Junior High weight classes...

  • cruiser_96
It's been a while since I've had to deal with them. Can someone list the in-season weight classes for me?

    Thanks in advance.

ill assume this moves up with the weight allowance? And when is the allowance, and how much is it?

I think it the same time as HS but it's only 1 pound as opposed to 2.

Growth allowance is exactly same as high school...

6.1 jh) The OHSAA growth allowance is a two-pound allowance to be given on December 25.

and yes the 205 minimum goes up with the 2 lb. allowance.

    Thanks for the correction Pompero.

    No problem.

Cruiser - the rules that are unique to Jr. High have been extracted into their own little manual now and can be found at: http://ohsaa.org/sports/wr/boys/wrJrHighManual.pdf

Now a mean spirited person would point out that for about 5 minutes of your time on the ohsaa website, you could have found all of this out yourself.

Darn those mean spirited people! Thanks for not being one of those! ;) ;) ;)

And let's be honest - the self-reliance in me says I agreed, but the sanguine (people person) in me says "Go public with it!!!'

16 weight classes for 2 grade levels...

HS has 14 weight classes for 4 grade levels...

And we wonder why many JH duals are full of forfeits.

And the Olympics have only 10 weight classes to cover 204 countries and 7 billion people. How fair is that?

JH start date for wrestling... 11/08/13

HS start date for wrestling... 11/08/13

Me no likey. JH start date should be 11/04/13*.

*If the OHSAA is going to govern our every move.

Head and arm is also the key JH move.

I have a long-standing belief that the key to winning at junior high is puberty, and hitting it by 7th grade. Do that, and you'll will 90% of your matches.

Whether it is youth or Jr. High, the best mustache wins.

    Handle bars w/wax = WBF
    Walrus = Tech. Fall
Well-manicured Charlie Chaplin = Major Decision
Unkempt upper lip hair = regular decision
    Peach fuzz = forfeit

    May the best 'stache win!
