  My name is Felix Catheline and I am the head wrestling coach, assistant football coach, and a social studies teacher at Columbus West High School. I have been canvasing the hill top and franklinton areas searching for a corporate sponsor that would be willing to make a financial donation to my wrestling program. Our building is way past renovation and unfortunately our wrestling room was deemed unsafe by district officials. Therefore, we need to relocate our wrestling room into our auxillary gymnasium, but in order to do that we need to install wall mats for the safety of my wrestlers. This renovation will cost $5,000, and I was just informed by my athletic director that our athletic budget may not be able to carry the cost. My wrestlers are already fundraising $2,000 to cover the cost of our new warm ups and singlets, so I have taken it upon myself to seek out corporate sponsorship to cover the $5,000 renovation. This donation is a tax write off, and we would gladly dedicate our wrestling room to the business or organization in acknowledgement of your financial contribution.   Don't think city schools can't accept corporate donations, per "the powers that be". A sponsor would have to donate equally to every city league school...reason we don't have scoreboards with sponsor names or other means (corporate banners, field names, etc..). Idiotic rule, but par for the course if you know what I mean!!

  Really excited to see the new space Coach Cat is putting together. The aux gym, when converted, will be the sharpest wrestling room in the league.

  Actually I looked into it and we are allowed to accept corporate donations. The rule with the powers that be that you are refering to is how Dr. Harris felt about 6 figure donations (i.e. Michael Redd trying to donate at West, and Paul O'Neil trying to donate at Brookhaven) that rule kind of went out the door with Dr. Harris. I had to fill out some paper work with our treasurer to get approved to accept a corporate sponsor, and it is all legit. Now somebody tell Daddy Warbucks to give me a call!

  Good riddance to a bad rule! Good 2 know we can now do what everybody else has done since the beginning of time!!
