"Spare" me your praise.

And keep your mind out of the "gutter".

What? Am I "striking out" with these???

I really thought I was on a "roll"!

Just having a "ball"!

M'bad. I'm such a "pin" head.

Enough. I gotta "split".
• Cthelites
Haha. I think our billiards club is hoping to be sanctioned by the ohsaa next.
Nothing like a sport that you get better at the more you drink.
• nykc
You guys crack me up.

Hey I got a tweet back from ThisWeekNews and they don't have the list from the OCC. Asked me to see if I can get it from someone or have a contact at the OCC. With that said - Coaches, pressure the AD's or someone at the OCC to get the D@!** list!!!!

edit - I also just sent a message through http://occ-sports.com/contact
If enough people start hammering them with inquiries it might motivate them to actually do something more than host year old news feeds on their website.
• HilliardDad
Here's what they (@ThisWeekSports) told me: "We were given a list, but then told not to release, as they were waiting for state to finalize. Haven't heard. Would love to post."

I went to the contact link provided by nykc and requested it as well

I guess this isn't going to happen.

Yay Columbus sports reporting!
• Cthelites
Dispose had the hoops occ teams today.

Sad that we cant even get our wrestlers recognized in the freaking this week rag.

Where are the occ reps at?

Well we cant even get some of those guys to even get their results in from the duals so I guess we shouldnt be surprised.

We always have discussions on trying to grow the sport...well this is 101 for you!
• Coach Ramirez
You guys must of been really looking forward to seeing your kids names listed in the paper.
• hang_loose
Coach Ramirez;1412111 wrote:You guys must of been really looking forward to seeing your kids names listed in the paper.
Coach Ramirez... I love seeing youth, middle school, high school and college wrestling getting any recognition in the paper. I think we need the publicity and the "power of the pen" to wake up people who do not understand what is happening to wrestling.

I am praying that the International Olympic Comittee(sp) reconsiders their decision on banning wrestling.

HorseShoe289, Thank You for the results!!!
• nykc
It is not about seeing "OUR" kids in the paper, it is about promoting the sport of wrestling - it is about recognizing athletes. It is obviously not too hard to promote Bowling which is apparently more prominent than wrestling in Central Ohio. As a coach, any coaches that read this - you should be doing what you can to promote the sport of wrestling, don't just do it for the sake of your kids/team - do it for the community. Ohio is one of the best states for wrestling, yet you can't even find out if little johnny beat little joey in last nights dual without desperately scouring to depths of the internet.

I know many statisticians have software now for keeping records and such, and even the ones who haven't invested the < 100.00 for the software from your booster organization - how hard is it to print a report or save a pdf of a report and email the dispatch. **Hint: it isn't I did stats for Football for 3 years. You can even call this handy phone number.

Anyways, I am done ranting - looking forward to reading how the girls cross country team did in last nights super meet followed by men's extreme tennis

I found OCC Ohio. I'll put them up later.

No not really.
I think it is just ridiculous that we cant get the All OCC teams posted ANYWHERE!!!!!
This has happened the past couple of yrs!
I also rail when the OCC duals arent posted. Our Coach always gets our scores posted.

I still stand by my earlier post about growing the sport.
How can you build/promote the sport when you cant even find the all conference teams? You cant find half of the dual scores posted anywhere either.

WHY????????

Something is odd here. Jerome's Comfort was something like 33-3 and their HVY had just about the opposite record. Have a tough time seeing Comforts being an Honorable Mention and the HVY being 4th team. Hope that is a typo or the league really has to reconfigure things. The Cardinal was thin at HVY, but no way should someone with a sub-25% winning % being All-leage any level, even 4th team.

Along those lines, I see several guys with losing records on these lists. Should they be permitted for all-league recognition?
• Cthelites
WOW! Ask and you shall receive I guess!
Thanks to those coaches that posted. Not sure why this hadnt been done prior or maybe it had to the OCC.
Prolly wasnt these guys responsibilty anyways but TY again.

Its good to get some discussion...no?

Well the configuration is a bit of a joke anyways.
You could have a wrestler that dominated everyone at his weights but if he bumped or cut to face the best competition theoretically he could be shut out of a top team. Eg wrestles 145 3 matches and 152 3 matches and bumps up to 160 for a match wins all 7 but doesnt have the qualifying 4 wins at a weight class.

Thank you guys for posting - my ongoing battle with @Thisweeksports on twitter has all but been pointless. They did point out and I quote: "ThisWeek Sports ‏@ThisWeekSports26m
@Nykc77 We are very proud of our wrestling AND bowling coverage. I think we've done both sports justice, especially during the postseason."

I encourage everyone to hammer them and the OCC with inquiries until they submit. Obviously Columbus media thrives on mediocrity - but promoting the sport of wrestling in Central Ohio starts with them and the Coaches who take the time out of their schedules to post on these forums etc..

ThisWeek Sports ‏@ThisWeekSports29m
@Nykc77 The list we have is incomplete. I told you we reached out to OCC to get us they final list and we have not heard anything back.

At this rate - we will see the lists in print next season. But good on them, they covered the postseason exceptionally well. :)

• Coach Ramirez
i will send them a complete list of all divisions. no guarantee anything happens though?
• Cthelites
Well the dispatch put in the All OCC teams in today.
Pressure must have worked.
