Do you know who his lone loss this year was to? -
treverdavisHas Gusan decided where he will be wrestling next year? Reminds me a lot of Nail and wherever he goes he should have a great college career

I was wondering that too.....Crimson streak;1399109 wrote:Do you know who his lone loss this year was to? -

I will have to ask my little brother but I wonder if Corey durbin from Sjcc wrestled him at all. (4th place at 220) -
nykcFunny you should ask, I looked it up last week and apparently it was a finals match
"His loss came by injury disqualification. His match had to be stopped because his opponent suffered an injury. The referee ruled his hold was illegal and because his opponent couldn't continue Ishmael was disqualified."

Thanks. His brother was a crazy good wrestler too. Big farm boys lol -
nykcYeah.. Being from NW ohio originally, those farm boys are tough! Was at the berg for a visit and he came in with his varsity jacket that looked like it weighed about 20 pounds from the clothes pins he had on. That's when I found out he has the state record.

I'm no ref, but I don't see anything illegal about the last takedown at all -
MPhillipsSTATE CHAMPION! Great job!

I've got no horse in this race, but that in no way was a pin, good job by the ref allowing action to happen. Freestyle maybe, folkstyle no way that was a pin.Dust_E_Roads;1398818 wrote:I wish him luck too, but with all due respect, he should be "pinning" his way to 3rd/4th.
The kid from Bedford stuck him good and it is a crime that wasn't called a pin. If his caoch's last name wasn't Disabato, he'd be in the consolations. Period.
I was a ref and no that was not a slam. Ref awarded 2pts for the takedown meaning it was not deemed illegal from the start, only when the Hudson kid got injured did the ref call the takedown an illegal slam. So, I only assume that's what the assistant ref told him and why the call was overturned b/c neither ref ever talked to DiSabato on the side. Any coach can yell all they want at a call but unless they have a legitimate conference at the table they themselves can't get a call overturned just by yelling at the ref. But, the assistant ref had some sense and got the right call.Dad4Sports;1399224 wrote:Here is the quarter-final in question...watch it for yourself

Yup - I believe you are correct - Did anyone notice the Maize and Gold Nikes he was wearing tonight? I think they had a big "M" on them.nykc;1399134 wrote: -- Back on to Gusan... I am sure he will be good at whatever college he attends. Michigan maybe? -
coach1I did not see Dom say anything to the refs good take down. 50-0 looks great to me
-
It is what it isJust like his t-shirt said..."Haters gonna Hate!" LOL, great job Travis (still consider him a city kid! ).
-
Blast82.5Exactly what Wraith51 said ...
My bias is toward the smaller guys; I don't really like HWT wrestling. But no way was Gusan pinned, and no way was that an illegal slam. That other kid knew he had to go for a headlock, actually got lucky and got it. Once Gusan got out, the match was over. That kid wanted no more, as evidenced by him hollaring to get out of a conventional arm bar. Arm bars can be tough on the way over, but once he's on his back, the wrenching is over. Yelling then is just to keep from being pinned, nothing more. Then he got thrown on his back again ... an it was iNo mas!
Congrats to Gusan on the State Title. -

Well, until last night.Dad4Sports;1399146 wrote:BTW.....just saw that Ishmael's only loss was when he slammed Kwiat from Calvert and was DQ'd
As for Gusan, that was nothing resembling anything I'd consider an illegal slam (and I was on the floor next to the mat by that point...can't comment on him being pinned, as seeing that go down was what made me want to walk down and see what was going on). Personally, I'd want the ref who called it illegal to be kept FAR FAR AWAY from any big match until he's proven (after a couple years of duals and JV tournaments) he won't spaz out and make pitifully stupid calls in that sort of situation. -
coachchuckCongrats travis glad to see u walk off your last match in high school a winner haters goin hate and hows second taste t shirts be damned i remember putting in the hours wrestling and lifting and teaching so proud of what you have done since i meet your narrow self in the parking lot at walnut ridge

ksig489The ref looked like he called illegal just in case and then had a conference with his assistant. It reminded me of the NFL allowing a play to continue after a questionable fumble and knowing that they can fix it with review.
I certainly hope we aren't moving in that direction with wrestling.
It wasn't even remotely close to a slam...and he was not pinned either. Same ref, two extremes on calls. -
Dust_E_Roads
Two extremes?!? WTF. Both calls went in Gusan's favor.ksig489;1399559 wrote:It wasn't even remotely close to a slam...and he was not pinned either. Same ref, two extremes on calls.
As for the FLO footage that someone else links to, the ref blocks nearly the entire time he's stuck in the Head & Arm.
As an aside, it was an extremely classy  gesture of the Davidson coach to high-five Gusan while the Bedford kid was down for injury time. Stay class, H-town! -
coach1I guess everybody likes Gusan but you

I've challenged others before to link to a post where I attacked the "kid" or said anything that a reasonable person would consider overtly negative. The challenge is still open and has, of yet, not been satisfied. Do I need to put for a cash reward?slow-n-steady;1399760 wrote:Ur a bi+c# dusty. Talk all year on here bad mouthing a kid.
