Q. How do my wrestler(s) and I gain entry into the tournaments?
A. Coaches will receive books of tickets, which they must use for entry into the tournament, according to the following schedule: one participant — one book; two to four participants — two books; five or more participants — three books. Each participant will also receive a book of tickets which must be used for entry into the tournament. Coaches previously had the opportunity to purchase all-session ticket books. Additional books of tickets for coaching personnel may be purchased Thursday morning, February 28 outside the Coaches Packet Pick Up Area in the Southwest Rotunda, located on the Southwest side of the Schottenstein Center off of Fred Taylor Drive at 10 a.m. In addition, the Schottenstein Center Ticket office opens daily at 8:00 a.m. -

So, you get 1 "book" of tickets. Does that mean only one coach gets in for free? And, can you still have two coaches in the chair?monarchpride;1395718 wrote:From OHSAA FAQ for Coaches

EasierSaidThenWhat about alternate wrestlers that placed 5th at Districts? Do these wrestlers count into the participant count and they get a book of tickets as well?

mgutrmanAlternates Don't Get Tickets? That's Kinda Crazy. Keep Your Weight Down So If We Need You You Can Wrestle, But Make Sure You Bring Money For Tickets If We Don't. Now That's Cheap

my son's sophomore year, he was a state alternate and the school counted him as absent. -

I hope you raised a stink. -

He never wrestled there again. It was one of many reasons that we moved.hasbeen;1397415 wrote:I hope you raised a stink.
The kid had perfect attendance until then too. -

I just saw the transcripts of my high school career. Four absences. 1 as a junior and 3 as a senior. The ONLY thing I could come up with was was a state tournament. Granted I wasn't wrestling in them, but my teammates were so I thought I had to be there (and thus wanted to be there).Shoot and Sprawl;1397413 wrote:It's a raw deal.

My freshmen and sophomore years, I was left behind to do my and my brother paper routes while HE went.
Awful, S'n'S. -

The school he ended his high school career at lets any student miss if one of their classmates makes it to the state tournament, provided they have a ticket stub the next day.
That'll make you pretty popular with your classmates.
Stark contrast in a lot of ways bewteen the two schools. -
It is what it isAll about making money...crazy that alternates and coaches have to buy tickets (hopefully, schools reimburse!)
I'm sure I missed 3 days almost every week after Christmas of my senior year (not practice, school that is!) -
Blast82.5I kid you not, one of my sons had to leave 20 minutes early to make a doctor appt., and was counted as absent for 1/2 day. That was his only "absence" for the year, keeping him from perfect attendance.
About a hundred years ago I was once an alternate, and I'm sure I got tickets. Times have changed I guess!
