He is tough. If he only had one more year too I think he could be GREAT! I was hoping for a little more in the match against Crumb. This was the first time I saw Crumb.... Very good! The kid is going to be in the hunt for a title in a few years! I wish I was that big as a freshman!

I like it even better than the State tournament. Some may call me crazy but there is so much passion and drive in this tournament like no other. I was a D2 boy in my days. D2 district has nothing on this D1 Darby district. This district has the way to my heart for some reason. I started doing this back in 2008 and have done it since. It is just for fun and for conversation starters. So with that said, HERE WE GO!

    106

    1. Luke Nace - Teays Valley
    2. Payton Gutierrez - Pickerington North
    3. Shakur Laney - Groveport Madison
    4. Jonathon Furnas - Olentangy Liberty
    5. Trent Gill - Hilliard Davidson
    6. Jackson Lakso - Central Crossing

Luke Nace is 43-1 with his only loss coming to the number 1 guy in the state, Assad of Brecksville Heights. He has beaten Gutierrez 3 times this season and has looked good doing so. I think he wins here. The Pick North sectional was by far the toughest out of the 4. All 4 placers from there are your 4 placers here. Gill has the best shot out of the others but I think will lose to Laney in the go to match. I think Laney gets some revenge on Furnas in their finals match here. Lakso and Gill are my dark horses here.

    113

    1. Dakota Riley - Mt. Vernon
    2. Kyle Dooley - Teays Valley
    3. Greg Brusco - Delaware Hayes
    4. Josh Transue - Dublin Jerome
    5. Santino DiSabato - Westerville North
    6. Connor Thomas - Olentangy Liberty

Dakota Riley is definetly above the field here. Has wins over all I do believe. Dooley had a slip up last week on a controversial call against Thomas in the semis at Pick North. The match of the night Friday is Brusco vs. Dooley. Whoever wins will make it to the championship and whoever loses gets 3rd I believe. Should be a great match. I know they are drill partners at the great Jimmy Edwards every week. Thomas and Transue "to Go" match should be a good one. DiSabato could beat Dooley or Brusco in the "go To" but I think it's the other way around. Even though his performance at Medina should have him well prepared for a situatiion like this.

    120.

    1. Artem Timchenko - Olentangy Orange
    2. Josh Wimer - Central Crossing
    3. Taleb Rahmani - Marysville
    4. Giuseppe Penzone - Olentangy Liberty
    5. Sam Valenti - Hilliard Darby
    6. Kasey Ackley - Worthington

Timchenko's toughest match over the next two weeks will come against Thompson from Solon, and hopefully on Saturday night at the Schott and not Saturday morning. Wimer is good, but I don't see him beating Artem. I see Penzone losing in the quarters to Rahmani and then beating Valenti to go. I know... I know. Valenti beat him last week. I don't see it happening again. That match will be an all out brawl though and I look forward to it! Ackley is tough, but I think his lack of schedule will have play in his ability here. The other 5 listed are just heads above him.

    126.

    1. Bobby Smith - Hilliard Davidson
    2. Tim Rooney - St. Charles
    3. David Sparks - Marysville
    4. Brad Kakos - Franklin Heights
    5. Andrew Lieb - Watkins Memorial
    6. Lucky Shaut - Worthington Kilbourne

The finals match here will be "DYNAMITE"! Could honestly go either way, but I think with Smith having another week to adjust to the weight drop, he will only get better. Rooney is a tough as nails sophmore though. Sparks has been here before and has always came out, like he will here. Kakos has been in this situation and I think changes it from the past and wins his "go to" match against Lieb. Lieb is tough but I think Kakos wants it a little more. I'm pulling for him. Good kid.

    132.

    1. Kasee McDougle - Gahanna Lincoln
    2. Lee Wilson - Hilliard Davidson
    3. Lane Hinkle - Mt. Vernon
    4. Nick Durieux - Westerville North
    5. Dakota Dunn - Teays Valley
    6. Ryan McGrath - Hilliard Bradley

McDougle and Wilson will be a great match. I think McDougle gets the edge here. He has been wrestling phenomenal as of late. Lane Hinkle.... is a stud freshman! The kid will be a state champ over the next 4 years, just not this year. He is tough. I was out in the cafeteria at Pick North and saw a mt. vernon wrestler laying flat on a table in the back with a group of folks around him. His legs kicking and you could see he was in pain. I swear it looked like they were giving him stitches right there in the cafeteria. lol! Never seen anything like it at the high school level. Tough Kid! I have Durieux losing to Wilson in the Quarters and battling back. The Dunn Durieux match to go will be awesome. They are both scrappers and tough athletes.

    138.

    1. Noah Forrider - Marysville
    2. Drew McDougle - Gahanna Lincoln
    3. Tanner Miller - Lancaster
    4. Nick Lawler - Hilliard Davidson
    5. Noah Holter - Watkins Memorial
    6. Taylor Neely - Upper Arlington

Forrider is on a "Vision Quest", the kid wins a state title this year. McDougle is tough but I think Forrider is just in the zone. Miller loses in the semis to McDougle then battles back and beats Neely to go. The Holter and Lawler match to go will be a great one. Two seniors battling it out for that one last shot to glory. I think Lawler wins. I haven't seen a kid improve this much over a season in a long time! I heard the kid didn't leave the mat all summer and fall! I give him the match here but it could go either way. Hilliards schedule is a little tougher so I think that has play in it.

    145.

    1. Jake Ryan - Olentangy Liberty
    2. Lucas Staten - Mt. vernon
    3. Nick Hammond - Canal Winchester
    4. Sean Black - Hilliard Darby
    5. Cody Pollitt - Olentangy
    6. Caleb Llaneza - Westerville South

Jake Ryan is leaps and bounds above the rest of the field here. I have Hammond losing to Llaneza in the quarters then Llaneza losing to Staten in the semis. I think Hammond beats Llaneza to go. It is hard to beat this kid twice, but it has been done. I give Hammond the edge here though. Black loses to Pollitt off the bat but then battles back to beat him to go after Pollitt loses in the semis to Ryan. Black needs to step it up a lot from his performance last weekend. He didn't look like his usual self. I think he does though. Honestly this is probably the best well balanced bracket in the whole tournament. A lot of kids can make it out here, it's all about who shows up that day. My dark horse is Pieczynski from Pickerington Central.

I'll do 152 to HWT after I eat this delicious dinner the wife cooked! Stay tuned folks!
Pretty good predictions devil. Other than the 145lb weight class you were almost spot on.
