All 3 Hilliard HSs win a Sectional

CthelitesPretty impressive showing at the sectionals for all 3 Hilliards.
Darby wins the Pickerington
Bradley wins the Watkins
Davidson wins the Westland
Gratz to the Hilliard wrestlers!
Marysville wins their own and are obviously the class of Central Oh.
I think what Hilliard has done is pretty exciting! -
Knight riderImagine if there wasnt 3 schools.

Central Ohio schools seem to be much more accepting of dividing the schools than other parts of the state. With the exception of Gahanna, haven't almost all of the other big schools split 2/3 times? Hilliard, Worthington, Westerville, Pickerington, Dublin, Olentangy.Knight rider;1390950 wrote:Imagine if there wasnt 3 schools.
I agree....can you imagine the lineups some of these schools would put on the mat if they didn't split? Maybe that is one of the factors why D1 Central District wrestling has had trouble competing with the "big boys"? -
coach1Why can't you have a central div tournament like brecksville

Blast82.5RE: Splitting Schools ...
Maybe it's nice to dream, but if the schools did not split, then there would be 4500 - 5000 kids at Hilliard, Dublin, Olentangy, and Westerville (did I get all the districts with 3 HSs?). I humbly submit that such a situation would be a little, um, "unmanageable" from a facilities standpoint. You would need a building so big that you'd need 15 or minutes between classes ... Also, think of how few opportunities there would be for so many of the extracurriculars (not just sports) ... 14 starting wrestlers, or 12 or 13 guys on the B-ball team, from a male student body of 2500? I'm sure they would be powerhouse teams! But perhaps at the expense of some pretty deserving kids getting a shot. -
coach1You sur would have some great wrestle offs

Similar to one of Blast's points... That's if all those who are currently wrestling still continued to wrestle. 42 weight classes is a bit more enticing for the second tier kid than is 14.coach1;1391014 wrote:You sur would have some great wrestle offs
Either way, kudos to Hilliard. Bradley, Darby, and Davidson. -
CitybuckWow, nice job Hilliard !

During the state team dual tournament match between Darby and Bradley one of the other dads said to me, "just think, 5 years ago, this is wrestle offs." Really speaks to the coaching job of Coach Riggs and Coach Moody to bring both schools to the level they have after the split.coach1;1391014 wrote:You sur would have some great wrestle offs -

The mat cat program was pretty strong back then! All those kids together now as Panthers or Jaguars going against each other.HilliardDad;1391194 wrote:During the state team dual tournament match between Darby and Bradley one of the other dads said to me, "just think, 5 years ago, this is wrestle offs." M5 GrapplerImpressive, Hilliard will probably be the first with 3 football teams in final 4 of region soon. It is becoming a little more realistic the longer the big districts have three schools in place. Last year Olentangys 3 wrestling teams were really good. Westerville's three schools put 3 basketball teams in district finals last year. I believe Dublin was close to doing it in baseball recently. As these districts get even bigger and get acclimated, you may see it more.

Thinking back to around that time, you have your boys, the Valentis, the Stratton boys, the Driscoll boys, Davidsons, and others I know I'm forgetting.Cthelites;1391270 wrote:The mat cat program was pretty strong back then! cradle3Back in the mid 90's it was one team & they were tough. Same w/ Dublin(s), Pickerington(s) & Olentangy(s)
