Greatest Ohio High School Wrestlers of All Time

  • Dr Winston O'Boogie
I would be curius about the opinions of those who know the sport much better than me. I wrestled in the lat 1980's in central Ohio and I remember Ken Ramsey, Adam DiSabato, and Rex Holman. Of course I also remember Alan Fried at St. Edwards who was unbelievable to watch. Anyway, who are the greatest?

Plenty to choose from. Some would start and end with the 4 time champions, but Fried was the best I've seen.

Luke Fickell and the Schlatters were awfully dominant. I'm sure there are plenty more.

Dernlan brothers. Jeff (2), Steve (2), Matt (3), and Tim (3).

    Jordan brothers, Jeff and Jim.

Mark Zimmer is my choice. The first 4 timer.

    David Taylor.

4x Ironman champ. Super 32 champ. Could also list freestyle/greco summer events.

Graham's "holiday tourny" back in the Jordan bro's day was to a suburb of C-bus. It was nowhere near the competition of today's Ironman.

Kurt Angle said it best... It's true. It's true.

Jay Jaggers was was a 4x champ who also went onto have a great collegiate career also. (2x NATIONAL CHAMP) You also have to consider Logan Stieber who was very dominate on his way to 4 titles. People say he was in the small school div. Along with Logan, you could consider his teammates, brother Hunter Stieber, Cam Tassari, and Chris Phillips, ALL 4x CHAMPS! Logan, Hunter, and Cam are all at "THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES" and doing very well. Logan is the returning NATIONAL CHAMP and ranked #1 and Hunter ranked #2 in their wt. classes. Cam is also ranked and finished 4th last year.

K-DOG: are you trying to say that one school had not one, not two, not even three but FOUR 4x state champions!?!?!?!?! On the SAME team no less!?

    Come on, man.
  • K-DOG86
Yes I am. Monroeville is where they are from. IF you follow wrestling at all, you should be familiar with these names. Logan graduated 4 yrs ago while the other 3 graduated together a yr. later.

Monroeville? Four? of them C'mon!?!?! you mentioned Logan as one right? You mean there are three more? Where did they wrestle?

Breakin' it down tomorrow. Too late now. Great topic.... again. Still fun and the arguments err discussions are quality.
  • K-DOG86
They ALL wrestled at Monroeville as I stated. And YES, ALL 4 were 4x state champs! Logan graduated in 2010, and Hunter Stieber (Logan's brother) Cam Tessari, and Chris Phillips all graduated in 2011.

They're messing with you. The majority of the people on this board know those 4, their accomplishments, and their school.

I'm guessin' Matt. Funny story Matt was jumped by two dudes in Bellefontaine. The cops showed up about the time they were both knocked out with their faces bloody. Your head landing on cement has to hurt.
