I guess Wimer knew how to be the takedown when it mattered most.Underrated;1386831 wrote:Calling Wimer a paper favorite is an insult to all he has accomplished. He is very experienced in the matches that matter. He has placed at State and he has medaled in the Junior Olympics. Now I know none of these things guarantee a win but I will take that experience in a match that matters. When it comes to this time of the year sometimes the only thing that seperates wrestlers is who wrestles tight and who doesn't. -

Josh is a great wrestler. Period. If you have been around/followed wrestling in Ohio in the last 10 yrs...You know who he is.Underrated;1390681 wrote:I guess Wimer knew how to be the takedown when it mattered most.

I know. My comment was directed at the doubters picking him to lose. I am a big Josh Wimer fan!MPhillips;1390682 wrote:Josh is a great wrestler. Period. If you have been around/followed wrestling in Ohio in the last 10 yrs...You know who he is.

joeyjoejoeshabdooI was surprised by the lack of conversation on this match. Personnally I think Rooney got screwed. And the Hilliard Davidson coach had a hand in it. He is a bully to the refs during matches as are his assistants. Then off the mats they show the same behavior and disrespect toward other coaches. Low class group.

Personally, I love the big mouthed tall guy, with the Abe Lincoln beard and the manboobs. he kind of reminds me of Penn Jillette. Without knowing anything other than penchant for drama, I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that he's the guy who made up the story about the mad Coffman mom coming after him with a cane:rolleyes:joeyjoejoeshabdoo;1391776 wrote:And the Hilliard Davidson coach had a hand in it. Tell us more on this match.
Did rooney get hit with stalling in the last few seconds or something? -
coach1To me it was a tight match it could have went either way it will be them in finals at darby

(IMO)The stall was called too quickly. And the caution to both wrestlers for stalling in the first round was not called for either. Tim should have won this match, this was decided by the ref.joeyjoejoeshabdoo;1391776 wrote:I was surprised by the lack of conversation on this match. Personnally I think Rooney got screwed. My only question is ,"How can you love a thug that slanders a crippled mother?" LOL -
BeagoodsportHD coach will even yell nasty things directly to the other team's wrestle when near his corner to try to throw
him off like calling him a p@@sy etc. if you can believe one father's story.
He thought it was funny - I don't. They obviously have a license to act that way. My letter to the principal of
the school went unanswered. I just think this is unacceptable behavior period. -
BBear2000@Beagoodsport you know how you can get them to stop? Beat em, and beat em again. Young men need to have thick skins to wrestle. As much as we do not like this behavior, the best revenge is to over come it.

Did your letter specify the "I've heard" crap, or did you include actual first-hand examples of unprofessionalism on the part of the coach? I wouldn't respond to a rumor monger either.Beagoodsport;1392286 wrote:HD coach will even yell nasty things directly to the other team's wrestle when near his corner to try to throw

Maverick15Ref took the match into his own hands in this match. The flee call came after Rooney defended a single leg. Broke the hands. Circled away like anyone is taught when defending a deep single. In the process of circling Rooney when out. Flee was called. Didn't agree with the call. The stall call a little harder to take a side on. Smith was down, stands up Rooney returns him and a scramble happens. 10-15 seconds left and Rooney has Smiths leg in a standing single position. Made several attempts to bring him back down but could not seem to do so. Smith just balanced on one foot, trying to expose a stall call and he got it. I think I agree with that call though. Could not help but be amused with the silence Mr. Rooney brought to the gym when yelling at that ref at the conclusion of the match. He was not a happy dude.

First hand examples of unprofessionalism for sure. I know it is harder for parents to take than the kids. The kids do bounce back. I do know a little something about coaching and officiating though and in my professional opinion, the HD assistant needs to, at the very least, be "schooled" in dealing with others. I was honored at OHSAA and inducted into a Hall of Fame and I coached three different sports to state tournaments. Wrestling is not one of my sports but I have followed it for more than 40 years and had three sons involved at various levels. I have been told on these forums to send my children to bowling or golf....sorry I tried. I just don't want a kid to be thrown unnecessarily leading to spinal cord injury or brain damage. You don't get a second chance after that happens. See everyone at Districts!queencitybuckeye;1392295 wrote:Did your letter specify the "I've heard" crap, or did you include actual first-hand examples of unprofessionalism on the part of the coach?
