    Thank you
  • Kras
Many of you may have already known about him, but I was tremendously impressed with Kowalski... ankle pick off the whistle in the finals was sick!

He's a good one! Smart wrestler.
He's been hitting that pick off the whistle forever.
  • USMCdevil2005
Yes actually first time I saw Harris. He is impressive. Your son did get some great experience from wrestling him.

    Great Tourney Cruiser!

    Huge win for Farrow!

    Reflection:

Overall, I thought the tournament was competitive. Of the finals matches, 10 were regular decisions, one of which was an overtime THRILLA! There were 2 majors, a tech and a fall. The heavyweight match (IMO) did not disappoint. I thought both wrestlers did very well.

I thought the field was an excellent balance across the divisions of I, II, and III. I think I counted 9 different teams had a champion and 12 of the 15 were represented in the finals. All 15 teams had at least one top 4 finisher. To me that shows a nice balance.

GOhio is taking FOREVER!!! Normally, I plug my camera in to my computer and I upload the videos from my camera. What I will have to do is transfer the files to my external hard drive, create an MPEG file on a program and then upload them (hopefully!). In makes sense in my mind. We'll see if it becomes a reality. I'll work on it tonight and tomorrow. I'll also do a test run with 106.

A couple of kids who stuck out in my mind as I looked through the brackets...
106: Nace (TV) - he's gotten quite good. SHout-out to Laney (GM) for placing top 3.

113: What a finals match!!! Things got in place from a cordination stand point and about half-way through the match I was able to sit and watch. Great stuff! Abduljelil (WY) looks excellent, even as a freshman, and Hines (OO) has upped his game from last year, adding a ton of motion and great angles for leg attacks. Great job to both finalists.

120: Sammy will be Sammy. What a stud!? I was also impressed with runner-up Farmer (OO) and 3rd place finisher Silverthorn (WK). Both wrestlers were able to upend Tyson (3V) who I really like. Very nice wins.

126: Timchenko (OO). News flash: he's good. Fluty (NA) gets runner-up after winning a TCI championship in 2011. He had an excellent win over 120# Valenti (HD) this past week, and kept right on rolling.

132: Another fantastic finals match. As mentioned above, Kowalski is the real deal. He is now 2 for 2 in TCI tournaments. With two left, I am pretty sure he'd be the first 4x-er. No shame for Delgadillo (WY). He competed well, but came up a bit short. I expect big things from both wrestlers over the next 6 weeks.

138: Gibson (WY) and Scott (BR) did very well for themselves, winning 1st and 2nd respectively. Excellent effort form Pickerington North's McCafferty. No match more than two points apart. As a sophomore, I think it shows good poise and match management.

145: I was impressed with Wahl (WK). He beat us (Lovings) twice, but also gave champion Stover (BR) a good match. And then he bested Notestine (PN) in SV! That is a sold win.

152: Krasovec (WC) not only wins the JA tournament, but also wins the Cruiser Invitational! Two tourney champinships in as many weeks!? The sunggly one is doing something right. In the finals match, he was able to beat a quality opponent in Abduljelil (WY). I think moving into the sectional "Kras" should get some "chatter."

160: Two words... Ryan - Harris (BW). I am very excited to follow this kid come early March. Wow! His finals opponent, Wogan (LV), had a brawl - dare I say donnybrook!? - with Whitehall's Young in the semis! Excellent stuff as they are both MSL-ers, and will probably cross paths at the district tournament.

170: Stratton (HB) impressed me. I don't remember seeing him wrestle before. He is definitely one to keep an eye on as the post-season looms. His margin of victory (9-2) over Hortz (WY) was a bit more than I expected.

182: The top two seeds; the way it should be. Both seemed to get to the finals with relative ease. The 4-3 final score, in my mind, shows even competitiveness, which is always a plus. (Unless one tof these wrestlers is YOUR kid. If that's the case then nothing other than a first period pin will satisfy!)

195: I was really looking forward to this final. I thought Kamba (OO) might have a few more things going for him in this match-up. As it turns out, I was wrong. Jones (3V) was able to win his 2nd TCI title. And to that I say congrats!

220: This bracket seemed to completely disintegrate with the #1 and #4 seeds getting beat. Out of the top emerged Kosteca (TR) on the strength of two pins. Pretty low scoring affair between he and the eventual champion Kinzer (TV). Kinzer was a district place-winner (6th) last year.

285: YES!!!!! Ya gotta love when the oft-forgotten heavyweights keep the stands packed! And this match did NOT disappoint. Both wrestlers were spent when it was all said and done. In the end, Farrow (WY) was able to secure an excellent takedown on the edge with 1.7 seconds remaining. Upon the restart, Farrown kicked Garren (BR) out, to give a 5-4 final.

    Just a great tournament.

One last point... One of the great things about this tournament - -aside from the excellent field and great competition - is the cast of coaches present. I enjoy seeing these guys if only for once, maybe twice throughout the year. But they are a great group of people!

    Thanks again.

Cruiser - a couple of things for you: 1) When Krasovec saw those lovely boards as a trophy, it was that extra motivation he needed. IMO coolest thing out there with winner signing his own!! BTW, he was 0-6 in the Cruiser going into this year. 2) A little more love for Kras, he's got the 3-peat with winning the OO Meatgrinder as well ... Really looking forward to seeing how he performs at Jerome on Sat against a quality field, including a couple of folks who beat him earlier in the season...

nice write up cruiser! Didn't see anything in the dispatch yesterday. Wish they would send reporters to cover tournaments like they used to. Always loved seeing pictures of wrestlers in sunday dispatch every now and then.
  • cruiser_96
Kras: That is AWESOME!!!!!!!! 3-peat!!!! Man that is awesome. The brackets - to include the frames, the plexi-glass fronts, and the signing of your own name - is something very special (and IMO unique). I enjoy seeing kids over the years and asking if they still have it. Sometimes I'll get a confused look as they try to think of where it is, but most of the time, they let me know it's hanging in their room. Which I think is awesome.

    Best of luck at Jerome.

USMC: Nothing in the Dispatch yesterday because I failed to get it typed up. However, it was sent today.

COncerning pictures... I had my stat grab my camera with the hope of taking pictures of the finals matches. I'm not sure what the deal is but it would not - and still won't - take them. I don't knowenough about the setting to know what's up but man I was upset.

As for videos of the finals... BAH!!!! They will get uploaded... Oh yes! They will.

AMEN DEVIL! - ooops - can I say that? Seriously - what is with the Dispatch?? One of the better tourneys in Central Ohio and not a single line. But you can always get the latest on girls bowling......

At least the Advocate had a few lines on the LV Wrestlers

    Cruiser - "Donnybrook" - LOL!

It is currently 7:27pm on Monday night. I just tried uploading 106 and 113. If these two work, I'll move forward. Wish GOhio luck.

Yes you can say that.... GOD LOVES MARINES! OORAH! lol.

It does kill me that high school bowling even gets more coverage! Im waiting for them to start putting "Show Choir" results in there over wrestling!

HA! Be careful what you ask for...

Concerning GOhio... If I can't get 120, 132, and 138 up today on that site, I'm going to the old faithful; YouTube. This is very near unacceptable. I have already changed the file names, so now when they go up, they will not have a generic code name, but rather the weight class and the wrestlers' last names.

Concerning 126... I'm not sure what happen to it. I thought I watched some of it, but now I can't find it. And worse, the files go in order (which means there's a chance the record button was not pushed). And that kind of stinks because a) I think Artem is the man, and b) I think Fluty is really coming along. Both wrestlers have done well and should be celebrated as the finalists they were.

I may have found an issue, but probably not.

... I had my camera output setting for 16:9 instead of 4:3. Let's see if that makes a difference. (It certainly made a difference on the size of my butt! Jeesh!!! I'm glad I know that the camera adds 40 pounds or I'd really start to wonder!!!)
