Dear Santa,
I know you are pretty busy guy these days, but if you get a second, could you look at my list and see if you can fulfill any of my wrestling wishes.
I wish…
1. That every coach who sits in the chair matside says to me before the match “Hey Ref, I know it’s a tough job, so I am just going to sit here and enjoy watching you work!
2. That every tournament I work decides it’s only proper to have 3 refs per mat!
3. That when a kid is stalling, can you have that kids mom from the top row start yelling “hey ref..my son is stalling, please hit him and hit him now!!
4. That when the wrestling gets really wild, and the tough call needs to be made, can you please have the other coach of the red wrestler say “hey…that’s a take down for green!”
5. That every tournament’s hospitality room takes your food order a week in advance.
6. That every tournament uses a simple 8 man bracket, with several nice long breaks!
7. That every tournament offers a masseuse after every round and each high school has a hot tub in the official’s locker room.
For the last few…a few serious things…
8. That every kid who dreams of standing on the podium one day, gets that chance…at least once.
9. That every parent sees their child win that one really big match in OT at the very last second.
10. And last….I wish that every parent, coach and referee always keep in mind that for all this sport offers and for all the tears, sweat, blood, smiles and heartbreak that will occur, that these kids are kids. Someone will win and someone will lose. May we all have a little more patience, a little more understanding, and realize that in the end, it’s really not about a win/loss record. Celebrate the process and the experience.

Nice to see ya around here Refman! Hate to burst yer bubble but Santa isn't real. Of course, neither is three refs per mat for HS invites or jacuzzi's in official locker rooms. :laugh:
