4 x state champs.

  A buddy of mine and I where talking about how Tomasello might be the on of the best 4 x state champions. This is just going off of high school. Who would you rank going up to top 6 and why? My list is:

  2. David Taylor
  3. Dustin schlatter
  4. Nat Tomasello
  5. Lance Palmer
  6. Jeff Jaggers

  ps: McGhee and Phillips (and maybe Hanson) did it while starting above 125. I think.

  The top four each have just one loss in high school. With that in mind, becuase he doesn't wrestle Fargo, Bo Jordan gets left out of these discussions, but he will end up winning four titles at 130, 145, 152 and 160, a 3X Ironman champion, with his lone loss being early his freshman year to a National levle wrestler in OT...a loss he avenged at the State Tourney later that season.

  Jim Jordan - He's a 2x NCAA champ and also beat John Smith.
  Stiebers - 1x NCAA title between the brothers.
  Schlatters - 1x NCAA title between the brothers.
  DT -1x NCAA title so far. Still competing.

  What about my man Harry Lester? To my knowledge he is the only one on this list to be an Olympian. He did not wrestle in college because he went straight into training for the olympics. I would argue that he was the best athlete of all of these four timers.

  I think he gets tainted a little because he didn't wrestle in college and by the fact that all of his International success is in greco. And making an Olympic team has a lot to do with the greatness that is at your weight. Jim Jordan was never an Olympian because John Smith was in his weight. He may have been top five in the World, but could get on the team.
  
  Come to think of it, didn't Lester win University Nationals a few years ago up a weight in freestyle? Also, as great as he is I don't think Lester is a better athlete than Logan Stieber. Different? Yes, but not better.

  For some reason I'm thinking Smith pretty much owned Jordan after Smith's red-shirt season. Remember he was a World Champion while still in college. I could be wrong (it happens a lot), but the only guy I remember taking a bout from Smith in the best of three was the Michigan standout, John Fisher. If i remember correctly, Fisher beat him pretty badly in one of their matches at the trails one year, but the was injured in the third bout. Fisher fought hard, but he was on one leg by the end of the match an Smith showed no mercy.
