On the site you will find our "Be Better" wrestling camp information. ***PLEASE NOTE*** Steve Luke is NOT 100% in yet. He said earlier that he is willing, but first must make sure there is no scheduling conflict as he works to become a pharmisist. (Please note the incorrect spelling of "pharmacist").
In order to receive a CONQUEST brand shirt, registration MUST be received by Wednesday, October 17.
I do have a couple of clinicians on stand by in the case of Mr. Luke being unable to attend. Oh, and they will not disappoint.
We've had an average of 72 wrestlers over the past 3 years, with as many as 6(?) schools represented. Feel free to contact me on here or with the email address on the form.
Thanks,
cruiser_96 -
bribacker51I know my boys loved it last year and Clayton is looking forward to it this year.
-
cruiser_96Sweet! Let Coach Kikume know he can get (almost) an extra week with his guys by coming out!!! That could go a long way for the Ranger program and the new coach. Start early!
-
cruiser_96Pins and NEEDLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
nykcDid you steal that Tagline "Be Better" from the TWHS Football team? "BGR8"
-
cruiser_96Nah, dawg. I came up with it shortly after a year when a few of our wrestlers were content with either being good or - at a minimum - being the best in the room. We had many, many conversations with them about improvement, making an honest assesment of their skill set and level*, and setting and reaching goals. Their response "But no one up there can beat me." Then they would follow that up with their record.
Two words... sectional qualifiers. Not really. I think one may have made the district tournament, but still, the point stands, the goal should not be to be good or even great. The goal should be better. And not just better than your opponent. Better than you were the day before.
Hence, Be Better.
* I'm pretty sure that a couple of them, even though we practiced it every day, could not hit a head inside single leg. Also, their double leg finish was comparable to the DI Central District 189 class of 2011... "GOD AWFUL" (Bucksman, circa 2011). It didn't matter how much one-on-one time, tape review, reasoning through the use of why a loss happened, etc. But hey, what can you do... -
Lou DemasThat was a depressing read!
-
Lou DemasBTW, it was just that last paragraph that was depressing, we all know that feeling as coaches and it sucks
-
cruiser_96I figured you meant my sentence structure!
It can be depressing, coach. But the other side of it is it can be tremendously rewarding, in both a wrestling sense, as well as a relational sense. I have formed excellent relationships with wrestlers through the years. So it's not all depressing. -
Lou DemasThe good far out weights the bad!
PS: You might also want to stop teaching those low percentage moves, the single and a double! LOL -

It's all about technique.
-
Lou DemasThat picture is wrong at so many different levels!
-
cruiser_96Just a reminder!
Check out the flyer on the website, and get registered. See you then. -
cruiser_96PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, that's not true. It's a camp/clinic. A "party" would imply cake. We'll have none of that.
[Enter hang_loose and his comment: "Let them eat cake!"] -
cruiser_96And so it begins!!!
Two things happened today... Steve Luke attempted to make contact with me. Cross your fingers for good news!!!! Secondly, a registration form has come in!!!
Lastly, tomorrow is the big day when I head down to the JH building. Those little whippersnappers do a great job of getting their forms in. By the 17th, we should have a pretty good picture of what the numbers will look like come the last week of October.

cruiser_96Ain't this how it goes!?!?!?!?
Tommy and I communicated this past Sunday for what day I would like him to be the clinician. I like my shirts to be handed out on day 3 of 4. For our camp, that woud be Wednesday. So, Tommy on Wednesday for technique AND bring the shirts. This beats him doing technique on one day and then having to return to deliver shirts on another day. Things are really shaping up, right!?
Coach Luke called me last night... Wednesday is the only day his boss/teacher/professor is willing to let him out early.
Great moogally googally!
Never fear though. We will get it worked out. But for now, know that Coach Luke is in for Wednesday night. (psst... he's pretty good.) -
cruiser_96Details are still being ironed out, but while Colt Sponseller is busy earning bronze medals in the University World Games, I, along with Tommy Rowlands and Steve Luke, am finalizing who is going which night.
Be ready for a timeline as soon as I get it.
Also, Oct. 17th is the cut off for shirt orders. Registrations must be in by then in order to guarantee a shirt. If you don't think you'll get it in by then, just email me. I spent three years in the Army... If you can't learn flexibility their, you'll never learn it! -
cruiser_96ps: New mat!!!!!!
-
KAginA little guys welcome if they bring a partner?
-
cruiser_96
All are welcome, coach. But you said it best with bringing a partner for a little guy. High schoolers rarely have trouble finding someone to work with. But when the little guys arrive, 70, 80, and 90 pounds becomes tough to match up.KAgin;1287957 wrote:A little guys welcome if they bring a partner?
And, as an added bonus, I've watched all three clinicians work with the little guys... #SOLID You couldn't ask for a better trio. -
cruiser_96It's gettin' serious!
YES!!!!!!! -
cruiser_96Holy smokes, people!!!!!!
I love it. Numbers like this always adds to the energy of a camp. Quite a few from my neck of the woods. I like it! -
cruiser_96I have received a few emails. BY ALL MEANS!!!!!!!!!!! Let me know you are coming via email, and then show up with the registration form and money. I'll be putting in the order for shirts tomorrow, so just telling me - "My little Johnny will be there and he's an adult small" - helps BIG TIME!!!
I love solid communication.
Also, my email is on the flyer. Look it up, send an email, and have a great day!
ps: Tommy called last night. Just saying! -
cruiser_96YES!!!!!!
Someone has been quoted as saying "If you find something you're passionate about, you'll never "work" a day in your life." or something like that.
Anywho, when these emails, calls, text messages, and camp forms roll in like this, it makes me sad that the camp is 12 days away. The good news is, the Coaches' Clinic - to include the Ohio State wresle-offs - will be occurring next Thursday night! THat is SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!! -
cruiser_96I did order a few extra shirts. I can't guarantee it's in your child's size, but not registering soon will guarantee no shirt.
ps: one less adult small.
