Early Darby Predictions/ Thoughts
-
ptown3These types of forums always excite me. With it being post fargo and olympics the regular season is the next big thing to look forward to along with the super 32. Thought id put up not exactly rankings but discussing of the top wrestlers of each weight at darby for next year. Of course its always very hard to predict weights and im sure there are going to be those guys who put in the extra hours of hard work that are going to fly under the radar, and may miss a couple of freshman but heres my input of next season. My spelling will be bad. My fingers will fatigue
106- gutierrez and nace are two guys i think are almost locks for this weight. Gutirrezz this off season with the AA at fargo and nace finally will have the size to be a real threat. A small possiblity rahmani is here too, hes my top guy but ALOT more likely hes at 113. If torti can make it again i see him finally qualifying. If laney is at this weight hes my 4th guy in.
113- This weight is going to be ROUGH. I see all 4 qualifiers placing at thid weight. My top choice here is rahmani. A very close 2nd i have riley Small chance hes at 20 but i bet we see him at 113 at darby. My next two guys i have wimer and valenti. Not little valenti.. Im talking sam valenti -
ptown3Rest of my post will come tomorrow, just spend two hours typing and this was all that was posted. Sorry, part two coming soon!

oldskoolnikeGood read so far. I have it on good authority that Valenti will be at 120. Also, Riley will likely be down at 106 before the year is over. My top four at each weight.
106
1. Riley
2. Gutierrez
3. Nace
4. Laney
113
1. Rahmani
2. Wimer
3. DiSabato
4. Hines -
cruiser_96Riley to 106 would be crazy!!!!!! If it's doable, it'll be one HECK of a cut. Best of luck to him.
-
ptown3Riley has said he doesnt even know if he wants to go 113! But at 106 id say hes a sure state finalist
120 - timchenko should very well be olentangy oranges first state champ with thompson at 126. I think we may have forgotten how good this kid really is. Heard sparks COULD be at 126 and that hes very heavy but hes always cut alot of weight. Status on valenti is he 113 from someone that has wrestled with him this summer but to early to tell. If here i give him the third spot. Brad kakos will stay at 120 this season. Hogue from pick central and cameron lathem a freshman from teays could both qualify.
126- penzone and rooney is your final here unless sparks is at this weight. But them again i doubt it. After that alot of guys will be surprises next year at this weight unless somebody else decides to stay down. King from teays lieb from watkins can both qualify.
132- good weight class in central ohio. Heard rumors mcdougles will be bak at their previous weights. If thats true. I have drew mcdougle first and a state finalist. Kids a beast. Lee wilson will be his finals opponent at darby. Donatelli third. And driscoll 4th
138- if the rumors about the mcdougles are true i see kasee as your 138 champ. After that i see a couple of kids, aaron yarger wrestled a great district tourney up until the semis againsts drew mcdougle last year and then lossing the match to go by a point to a kid he majored the first round. If polliet is here he qualifies too, and sean black gave logan strope a scare at darby last season i see him as your 4th guy in.
145- RYAN VS FORRIDER III , well possibly... IV, considering brecksville but you get the point. Thats your finals match. End of conversation. Northlands alexander should get 3rd. Last spot in will be between miller of lancaster and dibennito of upper alrington. Luck of the draw here
152- chase boyd was a nice surprise last year to us all. Kid got good. Hes your champ at 152, with a bunch of seniors graduating from that 145 class last year.. Ason sunkle from pick central is your other finalist. Beat very good kids on his way to qualification last year ( fosco at sectional. tullius and deluse by major and then driscoll in the match to go) my next guy in is deluse. After that its anyones game for the 4th spot.
160- Markell wooden of coffman gave chase delande at great match at darby last year. Hes my champ at 160 after that id say its a toss up between staten of mt vernon and ethan bond of lancaster. Couple guys can grab the last spot. Bondurant or chappalear fight for the 4th spot
170- my finals match up is between funk of lancaster and walker or darby.. Should be a good match. After that the weight class is weak. Not sure who else to put here
182 - Lybarger of mt vernon gets the district title here, after that is see austin pfarr back down at 182 with the return of 2010 district champ at 189, miller, assuming hes at 195. Pfarr is my number 2 guy. After that i see sam riggs of bradly as your 3rd guy and shackleford for 4th if hes at 182.
195- After a whole season off Miller returns to the mat. I see him as your champ easy. Two guys i see qualifying if they are at 195 is juty of briggs and Kamba of Orange. Both very similar. VERY STRONG. Sheppard of Olentangy is 4.
220- If brett mowery is here he wins it. Heavy is a different story. Plenty of the guys i just named at 195 can qualify here at 220 also. Jordan reed of reynoldsburge should qualify at this weight also.
285- Travis Gusan is a HEAVY favorite at darby and IMO the state. Kids a beast. After that i have akatsu at second and if mowery is here then third. Sharp of teays is my 4th pick here -
ptown3With valenti ive been told from a summer teammate of his, that valenti said straight to him that he was going 113
-
CthelitesNice work ptown3.
A couple of updates:
I dont see Valenti making 113, but you never know.
Both Driscoll and Riggs from Bradley are prolly out due to injury.
Add Bobby Smith to the mix at 126(wow the rich get richer!) -
lennyrox55Where is Bobby Smith going to school? Davidson?

iGranbyJohnston from Reyn is a sleeper at 160. (Multiple big tourney placements, good off-season work.)
I think Sunkle can upset Boyd, both can possibly make the podium, wouldnt be a surprise to me.
Forrider and Ryan could be the state finals match, I think forrider comes out on top.
Wilson (Hdav) Has state finalist potential, even after a 0-2 at state last year.
I think Sparks will break through and finally place, 7th or 8th imo.
Riley is a state finalist also at 106 Imo.
...Been a while since ive posted on here..been busy with stuff. -
pinem07I see Sunkle getting on the podium. Tough kid to wrestle with an endless tank and very strong. Has improved immensely over the past year. I see Ryan finally being able to beat Forrider. Has a great work ethic and has improved ridiculously in the past 3 years. Not taking anything away from Forrider, cause he's a potential state champ too.

ptown3I know sunkles at 152, boyd im just assuming
-
cruiser_96I think he meant Forrider and Ryan. But I could be wrong.
-
Booger BoyI think Noah will go 138 he look's very lean. Boyd will be 160 at the lightest I believe. I saw him at Kent State at 182 he he simply was dominent with some of the great wrestlers up there. I think he and Sunkle are cut from the same cloth two hard nosed tough kids with great heart. Marysvill's schedule is so tough that it should prepare them for a great end season run. Or they could be beaten up from all the great schools they will face during the season. Either way hat's off to Monarch pride for putting them through the gauntlet

no youre definatly right, my attention to detail is not my strongest attribute, or spellingcruiser_96;1257905 wrote:I think he meant Forrider and Ryan. But I could be wrong. -
cruiser_96No worries. If ptown means "Pickerington" it makes sense. Or should I say since? Or is it cents!?

iGranbyBorofan over on Yappi had Both Forrider AND Boyd in the state finals (145, and 152, respectively) I think Boyd may be a long shot state finalist...but hey.
Also...I think Forrider is a state champ this year, at 138 or 145. Him and Ryan could split matches, but i give the edge to Forrider, although, working out all summer with the Division 1 133lb naitonal champion could pay off...no -

ptown3Boro has bobby smith behind penzone and rooney. Im i the only one who thinks thats crazy!?
-
iGranby
after going 0-2 last year, I can see why he thinks that, I doubt it'll end up like that, but its definitely a justified thought.ptown3;1258673 wrote:Boro has bobby smith behind penzone and rooney. Im i the only one who thinks thats crazy!? -

You're right, my mistake. Still, I'd call that a plausible thought, him being at the back end of the top 4. Like i said, I disagree, but its definitely not out of the question.Westie101;1259045 wrote:Bobby went 1-2.
