Cthelites, this was the lock he had, only when wilson had his leg in the air, if that makes sense. MTV, I also think the ref should have blown it sooner.Cthelites;1090233 wrote:How do you hit a kimora from defending a single?
Im assuming Mccurdy threw a whisser to counter?

it's hard to explain it in type. so i'll try to explain it the way i saw it. i didn't think it was a kimora either but by the time wilson hit the mat that's what had happened. mccurdy had wilson's right arm/wrist and was hopping trying to avoid being tripped. when wilson finally did get mccurdy off balance, they both fell to the right and they went to the mat, wilson's right arm went up behind his back. i thought wilson's shoulder was dislocated and i could barely watch. he was in a lot of pain. this happened so fast it took me a minute to figure out what had just happened. that's why i was saying mccurdy didn't do anything illegal and should have never been considered for disqualification.Cthelites;1090233 wrote:How do you hit a kimora from defending a single?

on another note...the officiating was not the best i've ever seen. i expect better next week. -

Im just trying to understand how that would be at a wrestling match. -

some of the refs were terrible! that ref should be experianced enough to know the potential of the situation. i will probably get some heat for talking bout the refs but, a few were really bad. -
MTV27I hate to say this but it sure seemed like a home field advantage for Marysville. I'm not a sour grapes kind of guy but, it was consistantly bad for all teams. at one point i heard the coach from dublin say that he can't train the refs! I sure hope it's better next week.

Westie101I agree the officiating was terrible, and I also agree with homefield advantage.

Well, Since they will see each other in the semis, the loser of the match will drop down and have to win another match to qualify for the state, hopefully they win that, then that loser has to wrestle for 3rd and 4th if he loses, and they are 1 and 4 at districts they will be on the same side at states... it was more theoretical... they will probably be 1st and 3rdDad4Sports;1090190 wrote:Must be dense this morning.....I'm not following you? -

i used to hit a move like that to defend shots..just lockes up the arm..never used it to force any unnecessary pressure in the wrong direction...never got called for it..maybe im just lucky, lol.Westie101;1090230 wrote:MTV27, as I said in another thread I think it was in no way intentional, but I'm pretty sure a Kimora is illegal isnt it? -
Westie101iGranby, I remember trying it once or twice as well, maybe it is legal, but I think when they hit the mat is when it got cranked out.
-
VinceDThe hold in question is illegal based upon the NFHS Rulebook on page 35, Rule 7, Article 5i. It is known as a keylock and has been illegal for decades.

Thanks VinceD, I thought so.VinceD;1090444 wrote:The hold in question is illegal based upon the NFHS Rulebook on page 35, Rule 7, Article 5i. It is known as a keylock and has been illegal for decades. -
VinceDNo problem. Let me just say that I was not in attendance and am basing this only on the picture provided. If the descriptions are accurate from above the move must be stopped immediately and 1 point is awarded for the illegal hold.
This may be very interesting to those here but the ruling for an illegal hold may only be be made/called by the head official who is on the mat. The side official cannot call an illegal hold. He/she may indicate to the head official that they did see the illegal hold but may not stop the action.
Contrarilly, the side official may call technical violations during the course of the match that the head official may not have seen and those are inforceable, but not during an illegal hold sequence.
It makes no sense to me as an official because I am a creature of logic and common sense. Illegal holds are illegal holds and called as such to prevent injury. When was the last time you ever saw a wrestler injured from locking hands (a TV)? -

Okay, I've got a good idea of how it looked now, once you hit the mat its definetly a Kimura (or ke-lock as VinceD posted). Like I said, i never thought anything of it as long as I didnt torque it the wrong way, use it to keep them from locking up a shot.Westie101;1090391 wrote:iGranby, I remember trying it once or twice as well, maybe it is legal, but I think when they hit the mat is when it got cranked out. -
MTV27mccurdy didn't have a key lock in while they were on their feet, if he did i'm fairly certain the refs would have called it. mccurdy was hopping around all over the mat with wilson's wrist and arm tied up but when they hit the mat, the result was similar to that of the kimora. i think when mccurdy started to go down he tightend up his grip on the arm and wrist then the pain ensued. it was a bit of a freaky thing. again, i don't believe it was intentional.

Don't mean to keep disagreeing with you , but whatever he locked up kimora or not, im 100 % certain he locked up before they hit the mat, I had a perfect view. Just want to say I im not trying to beat a dead horse to say it should be a different result, I just want to figure out if it was indeed illegal and if the refs biffed on not seeing it.MTV27;1090638 wrote:mccurdy didn't have a key lock in while they were on their feet, if he did i'm fairly certain the refs would have called it. mccurdy was hopping around all over the mat with wilson's wrist and arm tied up but when they hit the mat, the result was similar to that of the kimora. i think when mccurdy started to go down he tightend up his grip on the arm and wrist then the pain ensued. it was a bit of a freaky thing. again, i don't believe it was intentional. -

I totally agree with you, it had to happen right before they hit the mat. I had a perfect view too. I think the refs totally biffed on not seeing it, obviously it was a potentially dangerous situation prior to...and mccurdy was hopping all over the mat holding on trying to avoid the trip. I'm not trying to beat a dead horse either, but I don't want to hear anyone say mccurdy did something dirty or intentional. He shouldn't have been dq'd for it. Heck, I wish it wouldn't have happened because it was a great match.Westie101;1090640 wrote:Don't mean to keep disagreeing with you , but whatever he locked up kimora or not, im 100 % certain he locked up before they hit the mat, I had a perfect view. It most def was a great match. Hopefully Lee is ready to go next week and both meet again in the finals!MTV27;1090651 wrote:I totally agree with you, it had to happen right before they hit the mat. VinceDOnce again, the illegal hold mentined in Rule 7, Article 5i is known as a Keylock. Been illegal for decades. And knowing its origin and how it works it is hard for me to believe that it was hit in mid air after the wrestler's arm went behind his back.
As for the MMA vernacular of a Kimora, I am not a big fan of Joe Rogan as an announcer for UFC. Very funny man and personally I always felt that his best work was a cameo role on The Chappelle Show acting as himself while Chappelle played the crackhead winning the Fear Factor.
A Keylock is a classic submission hold from the old school professional wrestling days of Gotch and later George Bollas Sr. Any official that cannot recognize the situation has no business reffing a biddy tournament let alone a sectional or district tournament even if he has 18 years experience in the sport.
Let us pray for better efforts this week from the stripes! -
nykc@MTV27 - I was there and witnessed the match as mine was wrestling 120. I didn't say he hit the move intentionally, nor am I sour as neither of those schools are my sons. I think you guys did a good job of explaining it so I am not going to keep it going. - IMO he locked, it was illegal but not intentional just a reactionary move which was one hell of a match overall. Another insane matchup was the 120 Championship between Kakos and Sepeda.
There is going to be some good wrestling this weekend at Darby and as a parent I am just glad to see mine get a chance to bring the family name down to Central Ohio from Northwest Ohio.
I think 120 is ridiculous - wow the talent at this weight class is mind blowing. If I have to predict - my guess is Penzone or Rooney walking away with the title. -

120 isnt tough in the eyes of bucksman "Mr Intermat" Josh Lowe.nykc;1090921 wrote:@MTV27 - I was there and witnessed the match as mine was wrestling 120. nykcI disagree with Mr. Intermat -
Penzone, Straughter, Rooney aren't tough? Or because there are some unknown's there? -
cruiser94Bucksman knows his stuff.
I am no Bucksman but I would be SHOCKED if anyone from darby places at 120 this year at the schott. -
CthelitesWow 94 in the house!!!!!!!
