Maybe all those emails to the sports editor had some effect? ;)

    I had the same thought:thumbup:

I wonder why Jewell 220 D2 from HT fell off this list? He was ranked 2 on the last list and since then won every match and finished first at the Grandview tourney. I think Ray from HT should be mentioned as well. Maybe next week?

Ashden Gibson (Whitehall) 132 has put together quite a year......flying under the radar

Also interesting how Rine from Marysville went from not being in the top four to being number one, all from one close win over Stinemetz..

Gibson is a hammer! Gets better everytime I see him. Dec Knul CV and pinned Dilley AC that I know of.

agreed, watched him wrestle at the TCI, looked impressive

    Remember: it's a "coaches'" poll. Not a "cruiser_96" poll.

Two things... A lot more coaches are willing to talk in person than respond to emails. A lot. I assume it is because they don't like or have time to type their thoughts. And I don't blame them.

Also, about a dozen coaches have taken the time to chime in over the last month or so concerning the rankings - mainly team, sometimes individual... This week it was 40 coaches ranking the teams.

When I ranked my teams for the sectional tournament, I did so with an 85/15% breakdown on what I thought the district tournament would look like on Saturday (85%), and what I have seen from team strength (15%).

Last year when I sent out team rankings for the week following the tournament selection about a half a dozen coaches wondered why I didn't just use the votes from selection meeting. Duh! Why DIDN'T I think about that.

Anywho, that's your list. ps: it'll all get laid to rest in 25 days.

Sometimes applying a little pressure works!

I don't have a problem with this statement as I lean towards the "body of work" side of things. However, to be fair, he did win the match.

Are the indiviual rankings voted by the coaches as well or just teams? Also, seeing only 2 wrestlers mentioed at 220 puzzles me a little unless it's based on votes and they are the only 2 to get any. Otherwise, I don't care if a 220 is a 1st year wrestler, we should have a 3rd one there. I would think that we would want to list as many as we could, if not for anything else to allow a kid to get a little publicity...Know what I'm saying, seeing his name out there could change his entire outlook... Just a thought, I'm not up on the 220 class and really don't even know who else woould go there, just got me thinking. If we are going to hand out a 3rd and 4th place 220 placer at districts, we should atleast go 3 deep.

Of course, those that didn't see the match don't know that Rine received ALOT of help from the official in this match and that Stinemetz had just beaten Rine at Mason on Saturday. I don't think either teams wants to see the official who did the matches that night at either sectional or district. Pretty sure he won't be at State. Personally, I've always been surprised that Rine hasn't been in the top 3 or 4, but I think putting him at number 1 based on one match does strike me as odd. Again the argument on judging based on the body of work.

Typically throughout the season I get very little input. A few coaches call to update me on their results, but usually i spend a great deal of time digging for results (which isnt always available). I certainlly agree we need at least 3 ranked in each weight class, but in this particular case I couldnt find a 3rd 220.

    Your input would greatly appreciated.

    Cochran - Cardington......Colbree - Pleasant

Don't know if either (or both) of those schools are considered Central District for this poll?

I've learned over the years that every Marysville varsity starter is tough, and shouldn't be taken lightly, thus, I wasn't too surprised myself, lol.
