OSU defeats #2 Iowa
-
boobooFor the first time since 1966, OSU defeated Iowa. Not only did OSU win but they did it in style, 21-9. Tessari did an awesome slo-mo salto; Heflin wrestled up and won; Stieber brothers rolled and DiJulius kept it to a decision. Awesome night; crowd of over 5600; saw lots of teams there...even saw some of you all

Dad4SportsJust got home.....what a great scene at St. John Arena tonight. The crowd was electric! I think they announced over 5,000 in attendance......on a really crappy weather night. Freezing rain is pretty bad now.
I can't believe what the Buckeyes did to that Iowa squad..... -

Only about a half hour drive.....main roads were fine but as I got closer to home the conditions deteriorated pretty fast.said_aouita;1060680 wrote:How far was the drive home and how long did it take ya? Wondering how long it'll take to make it back to St Paris. -
cruiser_96Same here, D4S.
Buckeyes... Awesome. Just awesome. My brother made a great point; three matches in a row we were in the lead and in the last (roughly) 20 seconds tacked on another takedown! We "ambushed" the Hawkeyes!!! -
KAginWhat makes the win so impressive is how the young guys for OSU performed. The future is bright.
-
Fab1bBuckeyes!
-
MoparmanVery impressed with the buckeyes tonight! And I think there were 8 freshman in the starting lineup tonight!
I can't wait to see what the future holds for all these guys. -
Midstate01Think they said 7 freshman and 3 sophs.

The good news keeps coming.
Fresh off a monster football recruiting week, the 7th-ranked Ohio State wrestling team knocked off #2 Iowa, 21-9 in front of over 5,000 boisterous fans to earn the program's first win against the Hawkeyes since 1966. As in the year Star Trek debuted on television.
To further put the win into context, it also snapped Iowa's 39-match Big Ten winning-streak.
It was an absolutely huge win for coach Tom Ryan, especially considering he was a two-time All-American for the Hawkeyes under legendary coach Dan Gable. He tried to put what it meant into words:
"I feel great, I feel great. You know, because these guys put so much time into what they do. Six o' clock mornings, back in the afternoon; sometimes they're back in the evening. They got eight hours of study tables. They got so many things on their lives."
It's a great time to be a Buckeye. -
CthelitesAwesome atmosphere with the crowd going around the horn with the:
O!
H!
I!
O!
The Bucks kicked some serious ARSE!!!!! -
USMCdevil2005Man I wanted to go to this so bad. Dang prior engagements. Great job bucks. Demas is the man!
-
bw133Props to another unsung hero and Central Ohio Native Joey Grandominico wrestling up TWO weight classes and keeping it to a decision. That was HUGE for Iowa not to get Bonus points
-
USMCdevil2005Way to go joey
-
september63Great win for these young Bucks!!
-
cruiser_96If they want better attendance, they better figure out the ticket and gate situation. Period.

Agree.....what a disgrace. It's like they expected a crowd of 500......horrible event management.cruiser_96;1061314 wrote:If they want better attendance, they better figure out the ticket and gate situation. Period. -
