Hilliard Darby (D1) District Tournament analysis

As we all know the Dayton teams that used to come into the Darby district are now staying at the southwest site (Fairfield). This district has not been particularly productive at the state level or deep at the district level in the past. That trend continues this year, though there are certain isolated weight classes where that is not the case (and in others it is).
106 - 1) Gutierrez PN, 2) Rahmani MAR, 3) Nace TV, 4) Riley MTV, 5) Wimer CC, 6) Torti OLEN, 7) DiSabato WN
I see six legitimate state level kids here, and a seventh that's solid. Two kids that have a shot of doing stuff at state will be left at home, which is unfortunate. Quite frankly, I don't know why Riley dropped - he goes from a strong bet to get out to possibly staying home.
113 - 1) Spearman LAN, 2) Sparks MAR, 3) Bloss FH, 4) Chang REY, 5) Davis HDAV, 6) Valenti HDAR
This is one of those underwhelming weights. The first two are solid bets to get out and be substative at state (Spearman moreso than Sparks from what I've seen this year). Pick two from the other four for your state spots.
120 - 1) Penzone OL, 2) Mullucey DC, 3) Straughter REY, 4) Lucas OLEN, 5) Kakos FH, 6) Richeson DS, 7) Sepeda MAR
This weight is horrible at the district level. I'd put the over/under on wins for this site in the state tournament at 2.5, taking the under right now. The ineligibilty of Timchenko is an obvious factor in this. It's not like there's an overload at 112 to run up here though.
126 - 1) Fiorucci OLEN, 2) Murdock DC, 3) Donatelli HDAR, 4) Wilson HDAV, 5) McCurdy DH
Fiorucci hasn't dropped yet, but I think he will b/c his chances at a state finals slot here are much better than at 132 (Heil, Dillon, et al at 126 vs. Bright, Ward, Squire, et al). Wilson's in the same boat with a choice to be made between here and 132, he's thinking more about getting out to state though in his thought process. If one or both aren't here, you can do the math and start back-filling; and start looking for bodies to do it with.
132 - 1) McDougle GL, 2) Nace TV, 3) Strope LAN, 4) Pollitt OLEN
Another weight in the central that doesn't strike fear in terms of its depth. Whomever Olentangy has here (Fiorucci or Pollitt) is rated as a state qualifier at present - that can change if Wilson stays up at 132 (doesn't/can't drop to 126) or Canal drops Boswell (who's been out awhile into this weight). Hammond CANAL is ranked 5th given the current composition.
138 - 1) Forrider MAR, 2) Ryan OLIB, 3) Fosco OLEN, 4) Boswell CANAL
I'm keeping Boswell at 138 right now b/c (1) he hasn't wrestled in awhile (2) Tillius isn't in the plans for Canal at the moment. If it's Pollitt instead of Fosco, I still think he has a good chance to sneak out as a four given the lack of depth.
145 - 1) Luft TV, 2) Driscoll HBRAD, 3) Boyd MAR, 4) Tate HDAV, 5) Horner MTV
This is a pretty substantive weight at the Darby district in that there are five district placers/state qualifiers back from last year (six if Tillius was healthy or Fosco stays up here). I think Fosco drops down to 138, or else he is ranked second here.
152 - 1) Delande HDAV, 2) Zoller HBRAD, 3) Beatty/Funk LAN, 4) Sunkle PC, 5) Beatty CC, 6) Bridges OLE
Yet again, the depth here is lacking. Two kids with state experience, 2-3 state level kids in my opinion.
160 - 1) Daniels OLIB, 2) Miller MAR, 3) Mickley HDAV, 4) Bond LAN, 5) McCourt DC
Same story here. Daniels is having a great year and has an outside shot of being a finalist in Columbus if he gets hot. Miller and Mickley are solid state level types, and there's ample opportunity to sneak a kid out in the fourth position.
170 - 1) Pickett CC, 2) Bowens HDAR, 3) Brown WC, 4) Fox DS, 5) Funk/Beatty LAN
You'll have four solid qualifiers here. Pickett's the favorite for a runner-up finish opposite Martin, Bowens and Brown can place.
182 - 1) Leidecker TV, 2) Lybarger MTV, 3) Foster PC, 4) Pfarr MAR, 5) McGrath HBRAD, 6) Duffey WC
Got two solid state placing contender kids here, then four battling for the back two spots.
195 - 1) Lowery UA, 2) Mayberry WK, 3) Taylor MAR, 4) Kamba OO, 5) D-ck GC, 6) Chwoe PC, 7) Sheppard OLEN
Options here are pretty limited in terms of overall quality. Then again, that's somewhat a statewide issue here. I think it's totally open season for all qualification positios between the group of six/seven, though Lowery is a good bet to be one of them.
220 - 1) Stinemetz OLEN, 2) King DS, 3) Mowery DJ, 4) Marshall LAN, 5) Backenstoe HDAV
I think the first three are pretty solid bets to qualify and can for back-half placement on the podium. Last spot is open season. If Mowery is up at HVY instead of 220, then it's open season for two spots, and not a state level pool in my opinion.
285 - 1) Elflein PN, 2) Fleming OLIB, 3) Thirkield MAR, 4) Young OLEN
Why Mowery stays up in this muck, I don't know. He's in risk of not getting out with these four solid kids having state level experience before. Behind that, the options are limited to say the least.
