Westie101since when is steinmetz at 195? And I don't see how you can leave out Kamba of orange who placed at hoover and brecksville.
-
cruiser_96I mentioned this on the other site... Dotson is out. He can't return. Well, I guess he could, but I don't think his parents or I would let it last too long. Anywho, just saying.

cruiser_96I would never shoot you! Just letting readers on this site (especially 220 pounders -or their parents, teammates or friends) know.
I think 145 looks different when it's all said and done. I'm not sure what that means yet though... -
iGranbyya, theres a couple of weights hat dont seem to be paning out that way, yet atleast
-
USMCdevil2005Kyle Dooley at 113 could make some noise at darby, he lost 7-6 in his placement match at Brecksville and is really starting to come around. Austin King at 120 can also do some damage. Another you could add to the list that has an outside shot at 152 would be Ferrell from Teays Valley.
132 is a meat grinder!!! Wow. I would look to see some movement here maybe.
Can't wait til darby , my favorite tournament of the year. -

Looking at it that way we can see some of the tougher and more open weights at Darby. Number of ranked kids in (#).
Of course the weights are a best guess at this point with some already saying they are off.
At least we have a starting point.
Toughest:
170 67pts (5)
132 67pts (5)
285 65 pts (5)
106 55pts (5)
138 43 pts (3)
126 39 pts (3)
113 39 pts (3)
182 32 pts (3)
220 28 pts (3)
160 24 pts (3)
120 23 pts (2)
145 23 pts (2)
195 19 pts (2)
152 19 pts (1)
Weakest -
double arm barsNice way to look at it. Starting to think the most competitive weight will be 106. Not stating it's the toughest but has a lot of high caliber kids that are pretty equal. I'm sure Santino DiSabato can go with those ids in 106 as well. If Fiorucci stays at 132 with Boswell and a healthy Wislon that weight takes the cake on terms of quality and quantity.

double unders 90Why isn't akutsu of DS in the 285 conversation??
-
cruiser_96Double unders 90: he's on my radar. I currently have him at 5th or 6th. He may have slipped by some due to not competing this weekend but I still have him in mind.
-
SidHow could 170 be so tough? Per Cruisers rankings one of his top 3 is a Sectional placer. Who just lost to someone who has never wrestled in the post season. And, where is Shackleford from Thomas Worthington? Without Shackelford the 182 is kind of invalidated. He has to be the #2 in Central District. I also like Pfarr to be the #3. Hes very tough and in a great room with awsome coaching.
-
cruiser_96I think that is the deal with national, state-wide and then local rankings. I spend about 2 hours poring over results. Most of the time, by the time I'm at 120, I couldn't tell you who I have at #1 for 106!!! For state-wide guys, it HAS TO be much harder unless you use last year's results to aide in the process.
The problem, as you mention, is that a) there is a lag between reality and updates and b) the early rankings do not factor in hard work over the summer.
As we have seen, Fox, Sowry and even a few others have put in some major time to better themselves. Until they cross paths with one of last year's top performers, they will get lost in the shuffle. Unless of course, you are at an event and can decipher between relative talent and overall talent. -
Sid
You seem to keep invalidating some of your rankings. The hard work they put in over the summer? Wrestlers who place at national touneys vs ones who show up for open mats. You give some wrestlers kudos for last year and others you ignore their previous accomplishments. I understand its extra work for you. But, why do you ignore the stats? Its frustrating for some of us to view this. Proofs in the pudding. God bless!cruiser_96;1046873 wrote: As we have seen, Fox, Sowry and even a few others have put in some major time to better themselves. cruiser_96Is there a particular wrestler in reference? I have no problem hearing a case for any wrestler.
I think I had four coaches let me know of corrections that should be made. Some were OBVIOUS mistakes I made; others results I missed. It happens.
More than anything, we want it to help, not hurt. We want to stimulate something positive, rather than something negative. Hope this helps. -

i think he does a good job with the rankings for the most part.Sid;1046890 wrote:You seem to keep invalidating some of your rankings. The hard work they put in over the summer? Is he perfect? No. He even tells you that up front.
there are things that i see in the rankings that I dont agree with sometimes.
If you see something, point it out with facts to back it up and email it to him. Chances are the next time that kid wins a big match it could get him ranked.
Rankings are not the end all be all so take it for what its worth.
They are a means to get wrestling discussed.
Rankings are very fluid!
Wrestler A beats B who loses to C who beats A and yadda yadda yadda.
You may be talking about Fox since you brought up 170.
How could you not rank him after the early season major over a 2 time SQ in Bowens.
Fox wrestled great and Bowens didnt look very sharp. Kudos to Fox bursting on the scene!
Bowens backed up his ranking with a strong 3rd at Medina! And Brown has done nothing but win to maintain his spot.
Do we even need to question Pickett? -
ptown3Yes rankings are nice for discussion and for the most part fun but when it comes down to sectionals district and state a wrestler can have an off day or a day where he is unstoppable. To be consistant at ranking high school kids in a sport that takes the most physical and mental tole on you.. Its almost impossible. Shout out to cruiser for the rankings
