Cent District D1 tops in weights old thread
-
CthelitesOK I was wondering what happened to this thread back in Aug/Sept.
Not sure why it got closed down????(well the last posts were about if and where Wilson and Tate would be).
Well its confirmed that both are at Davidson, so lets continue the discussion and see where some of the weights are.
No sense in waiting til Jan/Feb for the OFFICIAL poll to gets some discussion going.
Compliments of the Vikings original thread.
From the Viking

Dad4SportsI expect many of the CW kids to be down a weight class from where they were last week for the Cambridge tourney. Max Lacey can make some noise at 220....was the champ there last week at Cambridge. Freshman Nick Hammond made it to the finals up a weight at 132....disposing of Beaver Local SQ Ron Foster along the way in pool action.
-
Monkey ManMorgan Miller out for the year with ACL surgery for Marysville, Driscoll 160 ? What did he wrestle last week at Olentangy ? I thought he was 145 pounder. Great list
-
pinem07Pickerington Central should have some good upper weights when they get back in the lineup.(Just starting practice this week because of reaching State Champ. in football.) I believe Foster will be at 182, Chowoe will be at 195, and Schmeltzer at 220. Foster and Chowoe are very explosive and athletic kids. Schmeltzer should benefit from the new weight classes since he was a small HW last year.

-
ptown3Watch Anthony Boundarant (Pick Central) at 138. Beat Horner this weekend
-
SidNot sure why you dont have Shackleford in the mix at 182. I thought he looked very good at the All Star meet and he won the Franklin Heights Tourney last weekend.
-
The2cKDudeWatkins Memorial with two kids who should come close, Lancia at 138 who looks to have taken huge off season steps forward and Cameron at 152, out for a few weeks but hopefully not to long... Sadly Billy Garcia is a transfer...

Driscoll definitely 145.
I dont know how, but hes there. Talk about an ironman type of kid! He is the picture of hard work in the dictionary! Go Big Red! -
Bitterrunner-upI have a question. If you're Travis Luft do you consider moving up to 152? When you look at the weight class state wide, 145 seems set up to be a two man battle between defending state champions and Fargo AAs Zach Dailey and Anthony Collica with Lufts best possible finish being third. If you're in it to win the title do you weigh your options going up to 152 to face a weight with less sure favorite in Delande and a legit chance to at least make the finals and have a shot? Or do you stay at 145 and go at two of the best wrestlers in DI?
-
rasslerLuft is a small 145. More likely of a drop to 138 than a move up to 152.
-
SidBitter I respect u but, does freestyle and greeco always result in success in folkstyle. Honestly I thought Luft looked bad at the All Star meet. But he had his way big time with Fosco last weekend. Avoiding a returning State Champ in the postseason is wise. Unless u have a "Vision Quest". I hear Lunatic Frindge playing in the background.
-
Bitterrunner-uprassler...Yeah, but he went 140 last year, so I figured that wasn't an option.
Sid...It's not so much about avoiding a returning champion in the postseason (particularly when you consider that moving to 152 gives you a state champion in your District), it's more about maximizing your chances of winning a title or even making the finals.
I get that Freestyle doesn't always traslate, but these guys have outstanding folk resumes as well. And, you know from just watching them...they're at a differnt level from others at 145. Collica and Dailey are National level guys. I know Luft, I like him and I think he's excellent, is it possibel he can upset both Collica or Dailey on the way to winning the 145-pound title this year? Sure. But it's far more likely that he takes third (a great accomplishment, but I assume he wants more) behind the two heavy hitters in the bracket.
If Lunatic Frindge playing in the background, remember he's got two Brian Shutes in his weight. Plus, Matt Hammer and Markus Scheidel. Caompare that to 152 with defending champ Delande, and returning DII runner-up Zane Zeman but little else with regard to State experience returning. -

rasslerDon't be surprised to see Collica drop to 138. He can certify there. Labry certified at scratch at 132 last week at Solon. Collica and Labry are reportedly very close so Labry's certification at 132 even adds to the possibility of a Collica drop. Of course, time will tell.
-
Bitterrunner-upNow, if Collica is at 138, then that certainly changes some things.
