Ellis Coleman's "flying squirrel" check this move out
-
ernest_t_bassWTF!? Is that legal?
-
Fab1bYep, he scored on the gut wrench should have been at least 3 points
-
1_beastWould this be legal in folkstyle?
-
Fab1bNothing to stop it, they did make the standing backflip illegal a few years ago from getting out of the single leg but this nothing I could see illegal about it. You might not score with it in folkstyle though unless you can secure the takedown.
-
1_beastThats what i related the post to, the standing backflip...while i dont have a rule book on hand, i thought there was a bylaw to the tune of not leaving your feet...(as in a backflip dive out of a single....or perhaps a flying squirrel)
-
Fab1bI don't have my book but I don't recall anything about leaving your feet being against the rule, I know it specifically states the backflip though being illegal. Guess I'll look into this a bit further.
After thinking about it and talking with another official we both agree this would be 100% legal in folkstyle just don't think it would be a high percentage move tin folkstyle as the chance of scoring is much greater in Greco or Free. Be able to secure the takedown on something like this would be very difficult vs back exposure. -
Fab1bWas the top play on SportsCenter's top 10 and the best of the best. Good to see wrestling get some pub!
-
thePITmanWow. That was really neat!

said_aouitaIf a wrestler stands up from the bottom position and the opponent is hanging from his back, don't they usually call potentially dangerous?
I'm not a ref but I think the flying squirrel would get called in Folk style. -
Fab1bStill #1 on ESPN Sportscenter Best of the Best this morning
