SUBJECT: PHILO ELECTRIC INVITATIONAL – JANUARY 14, 2012

I would like to give you some information about the 2012 Philo Electric Invitational which will be held on Saturday January 14, 2012 at the NEW LOCATION: TRI-VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL, 46 E. MUSKINGUM AVE., DRESDEN, OH 43821. Wrestling in the main tournament will begin at 9 a.m. Wrestling in the exhibition tournament will begin around 11:00 a.m.

First, once again this year we will NOT be allowing CROCKPOTS, COOLERS, or OUTSIDE FOOD into the building. We have over 60 teams and we do not have the space to permit these types of items. Admission will be $7 for Adults and $4 for Students.

Second, wrestlers and statisticians will have the option during weigh-ins to purchase a WRESTLER’S SPECIAL for $25, it includes the following:
All you can eat breakfast from 6-10 am, 4 pieces of pizza from 12-4 pm, 2 hot dogs, 4 drinks, 1 sno cone, & a T-shirt for $25 (Save $12). Upgrade to a tournament hoodie for $10 extra.

Third, fans and parents will have the option at the gate to purchase the FAN SPECIAL for $25, it includes the following:
Admission, all you can eat breakfast from 6-10 am OR 4 pieces of pizza from 12-4 pm, 2 drinks, 1 hot dog, 1 sno cone, 1 program, 15 50/50 tickets & a T-shirt for $25 (Save $13). Upgrade to a tournament hoodie for $10 extra.

Fourth. if you are using a GPS to find the school after exiting from I-70, it will probably tell you to use Route 666. DO NOT DO THIS. Use State Route 60 all the way to Dresden.

Lastly, preliminary brackets will be posted online at www.philoelectricinvitational.com by Thursday January 12 at 6 p.m. I will keep the thread on www.ohiochatter.com updated with information leading up to the tournament. I will also post there when the brackets are up. If wrestlers are scratched from the main tournament, wrestlers from the exhibition tournament will be moved up to fill the brackets.

I just spoke with Hank Zaborniak at the OHSAA. Per OHSAA rules, since there were some teams that had a match last night and are not in school and unable to practice today, everyone will receive an extra 2lbs at weigh-ins tomorrow. This is in addition to the Christmas 2 lb allowance. See weight classes below.

Good tournament all around..still need some tweaks...#1..Have to start somewhere close to on time! Almost 2hr late start ruins it for lots of parents mostly..#2..Every non-scoring weight needs to be evaluated and wrestled in a way that works for the number of kids in that weight. 98 class non scoring didn't have first match until 5pm..and the 150 weight class didn't have a first match until 9pm!! The top 32 tournament is beyond great, probably a preview of some future collegiate All Americans..#3 have to start on time!! #4..Offer some healthy food packages and you will make even more money!! Really, not trying to be negative..just throwing out some complaints that are tossed around by the majority of the participants in the tournament..Thanks to all the workers....
