CONGRATULATIONS to Caledonia River Valley's Head Coach Mark McGuire on being selected the 2011 M.O.A.C. coach of the year. The vikings won the MOAC red division this year.
McGuire started coaching the vikings in 1981, since then the vikings have had 29 State Qualifiers (including 2 this year), 9 of them placing at the State Tournament, including one, Eric Mcintyre, winning a State Championship in 1983. Cardington’s state champion Tom Smith also listed McGuire as his coach because at the time Cardington did not have a wrestling team or coach. Prior to coaching at River Valley, McGuire coached two years of wrestling at North Union High school. At North Union he had five state qualifiers, including one state champion, Scott Howell.
McGuire was the 2003-2004 season,Division 3 Central District Wrestling Coaches Association Coach of the Year.
Great Coach. Even Better Man.
