-

My son would like to do this. if anybody has any advice, i'd appreciate it. -
cruiser_96What area of the state are you in?

I Wear PantsWhat area you're in would be helpful.
You should also think about talking to his coaches if you haven't already as they may know. -

hizzmutherDon't wait on a team... talk to the coaches, if there is a summer team available, go for it... if not, don't wait. Wrestling is an individual sport as well as a team sport. Ohiowrestler.com keeps a list of tournaments all over Ohio. You can also go to borderwarswrestling.com and themat.com to find lists of stuff out of state. If you are eastern Ohio, check out tournaments in PA. Google "wrestling tournament" and what ever state you want and that weekend's date and you never know what will come up. Even if you know nothing about wrestling, you can be his corner. This can be frustrating, but it can also challenge your wrestler to think for himself and learn more about the strategies of wrestling.
If he does not get on a team for events, quite often you will find teams on this site asking for kids to fill in on teams for specific tournaments at specific weights.
Wrestling tournaments go on all year (although August and September are a little thin and result in driving greater distances....). Keep in mind your son's experience level and what he is looking to get out of it. You didn't list an age group, but most tournaments from now until next November include brackets for all age groups... just read the flyers first. We learned to avoid tournaments with call in weights, and watched for tournaments with staggered start times. -
Gardens35Are you near Y'Town.....if so, how old is your son?

ohiowrestlingchampHizzmuther is right open tournaments are the best way to get better!!!!
Your never too good to wrestle in an open tournament. -
hizzmutherworthwhile dual meet tournaments -- New Albany/Ohio duals in May. Anything Tiffin Mat Sharks wrestle in (watch their posts/site for schedule, then look for teams that need people). Tournament of Champions in April. Anything that is BorderWars Wrestling.

firestonefanGet on a team if you can. Open tournaments are great but you have to have someone to work out with. Check your PM for some #'s.
