WN beat marysville in their dual. and what happened to mcdougle at 35
  • cruiser_96
Damnit! I did it agins!!! My bad. Icopied and pasted the numbers and doubled up the 4's. It should be Westerville North @ 6, Marysville @ 7. Dang.

Penzone at 112 should be considered. Looked very good winning the Elgin Invitational. I would take him over Pauley IMO.

Agreed. I said that a couple of weeks ago.

Not sure about the others but if there are 3 better than McDougal than that class is stacked!
  • allwrappedup
mcdougle was 2nd last week which is why im asking!
  • Cthelites
103 Im a little surprised that Mullucey is still up there over Gerhardt(UA) who just beat him comfortably plus the kid from CC beat him last week.
Watch for Valenti(Darby) who already majored Gehardt and took 8th at Medina.

    119 what happened to Hunter?
  • cruiser_96
All those names are there. I was unaware of the 103 result. I tried to put Penzone up earlier and was shot down. Maybe he's getting more attention now. Hunter is currently 3.1. He's solid, make no mistake.

Allwrappedup. McDougle was defeated this week, 6-4, by Reynolds (GM).

I put in my email to the coaches that I missed a ton while running our JV tournament. I needed their help and got a few things. One thing is for sure... I'm looking forward to tomorrow night!!!

    Get those results in!!!
  • Cthelites
Wow thats an impressive win by your boy Reynolds, Cruiser!

112 was not real strong at Marion Elgin, but Penzone looked very good in winning that weight class....

112 had jonathan Edwards who was a state alternate the previous year and beat Herrera 6-0 in the fifth place match last year who is ranked 2nd

Just my opinion that the weight class as a whole was not very deep. Sure there were a couple of top kids but, they breezed through the pools. Did Penzone wrestle Edwards.... I can't remember.

shoot&sprawl any input on the 112 wght clas?course they didnt have a kid that got pinned in 3 sec in it like the 135 lb class did

no, they did not wrestle at Elgin.

    123spring,
Not sure why Dad4Sports doesn't think so. I’m not concerned with his evaluation of the depth of the 112 weight class. Perhaps he should explain his statement.
Why worry about what Dad4Sports thinks about it? He’s already said that he “can’t remember” certain things about what happened or did not happen at Elgin. ; )
His lack of memory about Elgin should certainly affect his credibility regarding his judgment of the depth of the weight class.
If you want my opinion: The Elgin Invitational is not the Iron Man or Brecksville, but it s a very tough tournament from top to bottom. I think 112 was as deep as most the other weight classes and deeper than some.

    112 at Elgin was:
1st Penzone (Olentangy Liberty) a freshman who is a two time OAC Junior HIgh State Placer (3rd and 4th i think). Penzone also placed at Brecksville this year.
2nd Chang (Reynoldsburg) a very solid and BIG wrestler who placed 4th at this tournament last year at 112 and was 2nd at the Panther Invitational at Pickerington North losing only to Read's Bobby Smith.
3rd Edwards (Marion River Valley) is a State Alternate and placed at Brecksville when he wrestled there last year.
4th Brady (Canal Winchester) is a DQ returning to the same weight class. He placed 6th at Elgin last year and was 3rd at this years Panther Invitational at Pickerington North losing only to Ready's Bobby Smith.
5th Smith (Minerva) is a DQ
6th Salmon (Sandusky Perkins) (I don't know much about him)
7th Durbin (Ashland Crestview) is a SQ who placed three spots higher with a 4th place finish at this tourament last year at 103
8th Yutzy (Jonathan Alder) (I don't know much about him)

The 112 field also had talented kids like Deshawn Haynes from Pleasant who I believe placed at the Desales Classic at 119 or Logan Crum from Big Walunt (who I believe is the son of one of their coaches) just to name a few.
Like I said, instead of someone defending the 112 weight class, perhaps Dad4sports should explain his claim. (but probably not in this thread since it is suppose to be about division rankings and everyone hates a thread hi-jacker.)
Meanwhile, I'm going to look forward, not back.
  • Dad4Sports
"Mea Culpa"many times over. :) I stand corrected! I did not evaluate the 112 class like I did some of the others, so I should have kept my mouth shut.
  • pc_baller
Cruiser why do you rank pick north over pick central?
  • cruiser_96
A few things going on here... #1 By the time you get to the district (especially day #2) and then state tournaments, all weights are tough. DII or DI 112 is not immune to this.

McDougle and Reynolds have split this year. McDougle via fall in match #1 and Reynolds 6-4 in match #2. I'd say they are more even than anything else and it will depend on the day as to who wins. 5-5 out of ten matches. Perhaps 6 an 4. (Who knows!? Maybe we caught lightning in a bottle on Wednesday!?)

He and Alger have never met to my knowledge.

A :03 pin is INSANE if it happened. I suppose I have no real reason to doubt.

PNorth is ranked ahead of PCentral because I don't like PC's colors as much as I like Pick. North's. The Panthers add silver. Central is just purple and white. Also, I grew up with the North coach. And he gives me $50 a week to keep him ahead of the Tigers. I told Coach Harris that these reasons can only hold as long as they finish ahead of them in a tournament or continue to beat them in a dual meet format. So, the way I see it, they have all of two weeks to earn their ranking. Okay, enough with the idiocy.

I think the two teams are very close. Pickerington North has been without some key starters for a couple of duals but they are due back very soon. Worthington Kilbourne is right there, though. And although the Tigers did just beat Grove City in a dual, I think those two teams are very similar. (ps: I only get 10 teams. Maybe that is a better answer to the question. It could very well be that the Tigers are better than North. We'll see come Feb. 3rd! Very exciting dual for Pick-Town. Which school is hosting?)

Pick North is hosting. It is supposed to be taped and played on Matside

That is AWESOME!!! That is good for both programs, the hamlet of Pickerington, Central Ohio wrestling and Matside: with Bob Dieli. All around great stuff! Good luck to both teams. See you Thursday night on the Chatter!
  • zambrown
Not to hijack the thread, but what night is Matside on? When we switched to AT&T a couple of years ago, we didn't have ONN. Now we have it but I can't remember what night to look for Matside. Any help?
  • cruiser_96
I know it airs on Wednesday night at either 7pm or 9pm. It may air another night, but I'm not sure which night.
