Alliance Top Gun Tournament

  • zambrown
We got back from Top Gun a couple of hours ago and I have to say I was completely impressed with the entire experience. I have never seen such a well organized, well run tournament in all the years my son has wrestled. 41 teams in one high school and there was enough parking, enough seating, absolutely no breaks ever - except to prepare the gym for finals, fantastic refereeing, good security to prevent gym bags and coolers in the seating area, good variety and great pricing on the concessions - I could go on and on. I now understand why Top Gun has such a great national reputation as a tournament. My hats off to everyone who worked so diligently to make this a great experience!

Congats to all the Central Ohio kids who placed. Way to go!

Here is a link for the results:

Thank you Cthelites! We certainly got to watch some excellent wrestling this weekend. I can't wait to go back next year!

3rd seed; 3rd place. Well done.
Just caught your note there, Cruiser. Thanks.
  • USMCdevil05
so what seed was joey gadd????
  • cruiser_96
USMC: Not sure but I gotta think, with him placing fourth, he certainly outplaced his seed! Great work!!!

Interesting note... Brown (WC) dec. Gadd (O) 1-0 in the second round. Then they wrestled again for third!!! Gadd took the LOOONG way back to placement, and did so in a great way. Nice work to both young men. Hope to see while I'm eating some Dip'N'Dots, if you know what I mean. (zam: first bowl is on me if it happens! Mom and Pops Gadd... I don't know you, but by golly, the same goes to you too!)

I would be thrilled to eat some Dip'N'Dots with you, Cruiser - believe me!

This. I couldn't think a polite response. They must be having a down year.

Any idea how bad the injury was to Mark Meyer, 215 for Graham?
  • falcon81
You know a sincere congrats is still appreciated by even the best! Those matches were all wrestled and the feat is amazing even though we all expect it day in and day out from Grahm! It is a Wow when 1 team beats 45 other teams in a dual that even includes supposedly the 2nd best team in the state Div 1!! Yes water is wet but they earned a WOW with sweat!!

Things like that happen when the 2nd ranked team in the NATION is at your tournament. I heard no complaints in Alliance this weekend.Had a talk myself with Perry's coach, Dave Riggs and he pretty much said he was there for the competition! To be the best you have to beat the best!!

I am just having fun. Graham is obviously very good and it is a great measuring stick when one of your boys gets to wrestle a Graham kid. I've enjoyed watching the Graham kids in middle school, high school and in college. Congrats for a good showing and keep making Ohio wrestling great. See if you can get that #1 in the nation title!
