That may be true, but the fact still remains that it was the wrong call by rule. -

I'm pretty sure that, while Smith is clearly stalling in the Ultimate Tie-break, by rule that first stall call is a stalemate call. It would not surprise me at all if Smith knew the rule and was wrestling accordingly. Smith has been around long enough to know you have to work up on a leg in that situation. The only reason you don't, is if you're in the Ultimate Tie-Break and you know a stalemate is coming. Had the match been called properly, a stalemate would have been called and they would have reset for a final ten seconds or so.
A la Josh Horne (PC) vs. Mikey Davis (HDav), circa 2005 District Tournament, Location: Hilliard Darby. (I do believe there were different OT rules then. But...)
Great match, by the way! I wish it were around on film! -

What a smartly wrestled bout that was by Horne. I've seen some great set-ups for takedowns over the years, but Horne treated that whole match as a set-up for the inevitable finals match the next week. -

If I'm not mistaking, the next week, in the state finals, it did NOT go into OT. 5-2, maybe????? No, 4-2. Two-point match. 4-2 is what I'm calling. 5-3?, 6-4? No... I'm going 4-2. -

Still my all time favorite state finals match. -
Bitterrunner-upIt was 6-4, Horne.
Davis was convinced (from the week before) that he had to push the action and shoot on Horne. This of course played right into Horne's strength of leg defense and scrambling ability. It also covered up Horne's almost complete lack of offense against Davis over their two matches.
