Let me say good job Bloom Carroll at breaking into the rankings this year! Nicely done coach Ankrom!

Teays has ground to make up and prove them selves! I think Liberty is actually your team to beat in D1.
  • USMCdevil05
p.s. I can go ahead and tell you will be NO.1 at D2...........Olentangy, Stacked!!!!!!!!!!

Also i think ready is better than 8th, they are more around 4th or 5th. Put on a strong showing at the Hamilton Classic and should only improve through out the year.

WOW. Davidson over Liberty???? This must be set up a little differently than the past. Is this based on dual or tourney strength? Dont get me wrong, davidson is loaded w their horses but is there a supporting cast that can win dual, like the upcoming state duals.....

I also wonder if Davidson will even be fully prepared for big matches in Jan due to their FB success. IDK-we will see!!!! ;)
  • Shankapotamus
Interesting that in D1, 3 of the top 5 are from the OCC Ohio division.

I think they wil be ready for the state duals. I dont think they will get better than 7th, but we will see.

These ranking are based off of what the team would score projected in the district tourney, if i am correct. I know it is based off of tourney. I think dual wise the rankings would be

    1. Liberty
    2. Teays Valley
    3. Gahanna
    4. Pickerington North
    5. Marysville
    6. Davidson
    7. Lancaster
    8. Grove City/ Hilliard Darby
    9. Westerville North
    10. Olentangy Orange

Thats is just one mans opinion, a man who eats , sleeps and breaths central district wrestling! lol!

I could be wrong, but aren't 9 out of the 10 teams from the OCC? I thought Teays was the only school on that list not in the OCC.
  • Cthelites
I think Darby will be a better tourney team than dual team but we shall see.
  • Shankapotamus
    Davidson 6th???? Teays Valley 2nd?????
  • cruiser_96
Agreed, Shank. And Grove City has excellent pieces in place to make a strong push as well. Mark this down... OCC Ohio is going to be very strong this year. (These sentences are in response to Shank's post about OCC-Ohio having 3 teams in the top 5.)

Lancaster just placed 2nd at the Waize, Grove City has a dual with Kilbourne tomorrow night. That dual will be a better gauge (IMO) than their triumph the first week of the season at Franklin Heights. Gahanna returns all but one guy from last year's team, and oh yeah, that team was 2nd in the OCC. They'll open up at Kenton Ridge maybe??? Perhaps Kettering. Pickerington North is...well, Pickerington North. Sure they lost a great deal but make no mistake, their 103 is solid, 112 is tough, 119 has a rumor of his ability (WILL - not can - produce on the varsity level) 135 though 145 are dynamic (Hinze, Howes and Corder). Depending on if Anderson is in the line-up and where, watch out. George just placed at Solon, along with Sophomore AA Elfline (I know that's not how you spell it, but that's how it sounds.)

All that to say, the OCC Ohio will be very competitive.

Yes. I think Davidson is a tough tourney team but not dual team. If you read, i said if i was basing it off of dual team performance, not tourney. That is why i would put teays 2nd and davidson 5/6th

    nice post cruiser!
  • slow-n-steady
lol. no one will ever know what type of tourney team TV has cuz all they do is wrestle in dual tourney's. then there is the district tourney. I love coach nace but would love to see his guys wrestle in more bracket style tourney's. then maybe wrestling in wrestle backs wont be so brutal on them in late feb. Always a top dual team and never close to making state duals..... kinda weird
  • Sid
Have to go with Liberty at #1 and Gahanna at #2. Go Lions!
  • Shankapotamus
What are you talking about? Teays usually goes to Watkins, Brecksville and Hilliard Bradley tournaments and they are bracket tournaments.
  • USMCdevil05
Plus dual tourney gets you a guarenteed 4 matchs! I think brecksville is a great dual tourney, maybe if they could add, the marion elgin/harding tourney, or even i think mason has a prettyy tough bracket style tournament. I think coach nace is doing good things and if you look back, he started tasking his team to dual tourney around 2002 instead of straight bracket, and it paid off, and is still paying off. I know Teays doesnt have the stacked top to bottom line up, but mark my words, they are going to turn some heads come district tourney time. They have alot of underclasmen and will be phenominal next season for sure.
  • USMCdevil05
I am excited to see gahanna, i hear they are doing great things under coach bentley!

I see Olentangy is ranked #2 in the first State D2 coaches poll.....behind Graham of course. Davidson #9 in D1, and West Jeff tied for 4th in D3.
  • USMCdevil05
yea olentangy is the real deal for d2, if it werent for the unstopable falcons, they might have had a shot at a state team title. but if gma hhad nuts she would be grandpa

I agree i dont care if its duals or a bracket tourney TV is middle of the pack. I dont think they have enough fire power to compete with alot of these teams. However only time will tell.

I agree good to see Bloom in the mix, and I agree with you that Liberty is the team to beat.

I said the same thing. But about 6 coaches shot me down! Actually, they just gave their opinion, as I just gave mine. I am positive those two teams have a dual meet, do so at the end of the year, and (and I may be wrong on this one) do so before an Ohio State dual. Can't wait!

Actually i did some thinking and TV goes to more bracket tourneys than dual tourneys. TV goes to Olentangy, Brecksville, Hilliard, and Watkins, those are all tough tournaments. They only go to 3 Dual tourneys, Pick North and The Viking invitational and Gahanna duals. If you remember correctly Teays did make the state duals 2 years ago and finished 7th, lost a close one to Central Crossing who finished 5th.

All of this doesnt even matter, ive said it once and ill say it again, i think come the district tournament there is about 5 kids on this tv team that are going to turn some heads and make there names known.
  • keato5
Of course you do USMCdevil05.....Just kidding, TV fans are passionate about their Vikings. I think Teays has a chance to get 2 maybe three kids out depending on matchups and weights.

Actually Pick North is now an individual tournament.
