Central Ohio may have to consider former Moeller wrestler Stephen Meyers 112 - 3rd place. Word is the family moved to Springboro. -

cruiser_96I've heard that rumor - and COUNTLESS others - ontheline, but until I see a result or two or even see him in a Springboro singlet come late Feb., I don't believe it. I have anywhere from 3 to 5 "rumors" of high schoolers leaving the high school they wrestled for the 09-10 season... I just tend not to believe them until the results show.
Stephen Myers to Springboro... HA! ...and Grizzly Adams had a beard. -
cruiser_96ps: Felipe Martinez to Groveport Madison!!!!!!!!
-
onthelineGood Try Cruiser!
Concerning Meyers....Coach Root, or somebody logged in as Coach Root, posted it on antoher site.
Another Rumor...Cruiser moving to M'ville! -
cruiser_96I saw the entire Lebenon/Springboro open mat thread. It truly is a shame when people over there who have an axe to grind just go for broke on others. I guess it could happen anywhere really. No site is immune. But my point is, anytime the Boro is mentioned, Coach Root becomes the punching bag. Tragic. (I feel a shirt coming on... "I heart Coach Root!" Extra mediums available!)
As for Cruiser to M'Ville... WAY too far of a drive. I cuss my whole way to Groveport!? Do you REALLY think I'm gonna add another 45 minutes to it!?!?!? Not to mention the northwest section of I-270!?!?!?!? Pu- leeeeeeeeeeeeeease!!!
Now, I'll grant the point that the pot of gold at the end would be Coach Andrews, but I get to see him every now and again throughout the season. I'll cherish those moments as opposed to wearing out any welcome!!!
Besides... Dublin Scioto already offered $10,000.01 for me as an assistant! And then there is the opening of the Ohio State assistant job... So much time with so little to do! Scratch that... reverse it. -

His Dad is actually a pretty good guy. Maybe some don't agree with him, but he does what he does for his kids and that's his right. He's definitely a lightning rod lol.
It looks like he will be at Springboro this yr. -
headlock165Vince Pickett is making a return to division one after placing 8th in division three last season. He, along with several others, will be making a return to Central Crossing after leaving last year due to levy issues in SWCS. Pickett has gotten a lot stronger and I look for him to do big things this season. His name might be worth throwing into the discussion.

cruiser_96Well done, armdrag. I enjoyed the read.
-
CountingLightsThe lower weights were great but how about the upper weights now? Those of us with the bigger kids need our wrestling fix since we are in a dead zone.
-
cruiser_96You're right,, countinglights. It could be a slow day here at work... sit tight. I'll see what I can do.
-
cruiser_96Just looking at returning finalists and top 4 if need be, maybe even top 6, you have…
103
Marsico (PN)
Murdock (DC)
I seriously doubt either are at 103 next year.
112
Timchenko (OO)
Longwell (HD)
D. McDougle (GL)
All three are STELLAR! I think Timchenko has the least trouble making 112 but even then, it could prove to be too much of a cut. Not to mention, if Edwards (OO) grows into the 112 role, then you maintain the one-two punch of he and Timchenko and the Pioneers of Orange start off nicely.
119
DiSabato (HDav)
Forrider (M)
Both were wiry last year… Could see some growth but I can’t imagine three weight classes of growth. Both are unreal as far as talent. If both end up in the same weight class in Late Feb., the availability for the Schott is cut in half. IMO.
125
Stevens (BC)
D’Urso (SB)
Both are back, and both are good. The one variable that is always in play is the ability for the incoming SouthWest sectional to absent of these teams. Should they opt into the traveling sectional, then they will be interesting to watch.
130
Shivner (SB)
Riley (MV)
Shivner’s back…again! But don’t fret – THIS is his senior year. I thought last year and the year before was. I usually lose track when they are that good that quick.
Riley burst on the scene in a big way lat year. I was very impressed with his state tournament. I look for big things from him in 2011.
135
Gill (HDav)
Luft (TV)
I’ll be surprised if these guys are here next year, but they could bump up a weight class or three. An SQ and an SA should add excellent depth to any field. I’m more interested to see what weight class they settle into and how that effects their respective teams… if at all.
................................................................
For my man, CountingLights, and others...
140
Delande (HDav)
Only returner from this weight class, but let's face it. If the proverbial apple doesn't fall far from the tree, this kid is a 160 or 171 this coming season for the Wildcats.
While I do have some time, let's talk a bit about this Wildcat team. Solid returning 103 pounder that missed the district tournament by one second, the aforementinoed Angelo DiSabato, Gill, Delande, Mickley, along with DQs Ehrhardt and Knoch??????? ...I smell something, and that "something" might just rhyme with Mistric Nampions! But, then again, it IS still August.
145
Mickley (HDav)
Snyder (OL)
Schembri (GL)
Tough competitors for sure! All three wrestle very well from all three positions (unless of course we are adding "scrambling" to the norm of neutral, top and bottom, because let's face it, some kids take a lazy shot or let a guy into their legs just to get into those scrambles! But that's not important right now...) What is important it noting that all three are very good and will most likely shore up one-fourth of the state tournament spots in a given weight class.
152
Bryant (Piqua)
Miller (M)
How about Bryant last year!? He put on one heck of a display at Hilliard Darby last year. And the sophomore Miller lsing a NAIL-BITER in the conso-semis?? Both I'm sure will be ready to go this season. Once again, I think it will be interesting to see what weights they settle into.
160
Walker (SB)
Leidecker (TV)
Bowens (HD)
Brown (WC)
What a weight class if they all end up returning here!!! All four are AMAZING and are only getting better - assumption font on - throughout the summer. I can say for sure, having seen it with my own eyes, that one from this group is working to get better.
The Springboro thing is always tricky because you can never know for sure if they are coming this way. But if they do, Walker (SB) will be a handful. Leidecker will be a junior and for a 2x SQ as a mid to upper weight it is impressive. No reason to think he'll begin to regress now.
Bowens, to me, burst onto the seen last year with amazing athleticism, tremendous balance and big-move ability. Depending on his growth and thus choice of weight class, he too should be a real factor come late February.
The last of the bunch is Brown (WC). The cat ain't half bad!!! Solid position, and therefore very hard to score on. Nice size, excellent strength and, for a bigger guy, knows how to scramble very effectively. Not to mention he knows of Phil Carney... may even have spoken to him a time or two!
All four of these guys are brilliant, but we'll see if the vaccuum created by 171 will attract one or two of them.
171
All six district place winners are gone making legitement contenders out of all the returners. However, as mentinoed before, it's August, and who knows what one of the 160, 152 or even 145 pounders have been eating!!!
189
Brown (GL)
Brown is the only returning 189 pounder district place winner. Combining strength, size (namely length) and great movement, he sets up the fourth attribute nicely, that being a low attack. And for a big man, that - or even those - do not come around often. He should be the heavy favorite going into the season for 189 or even 215.
Speaking of 215...
215
Jackson (SB)
Odierno (NA)
Here we go again with a young Springboro kid. Not a bad line-up if you go through one by one for them. Not to mention if any of the transfers rumor are true. Jackson was a state qualifier last year and Odierno was a State Alternate. Not bad accomplishments for a pair of returners. One thing that works in their favor is that really only one major player could move up if they were to return to 215 and thatis Brown (GL). That certainly would spice things up!!!
285
Thirkield (M)
The lone returner is Thirkield from Marysville. He had an awesome run and if anyone stayed for the last matches of the round at Darby, you witnessed it. Excellent tournament for the sophomore turning junior. One other name that is worth mentioning is Elffein from Pickerington North. Also an incoming junior, he was able to place 5th (maybe 8th) at Sophomore nationals. Not too shabby.
All in all, it looks like it will be yet another amzing season. I look forward to it - as I usually do.
Hopefully this was worth your time. Peace! -
cruiser_96Hey!!! AMAZINGLY, I forgot to mentino something concerning the 160 weight class. Two of the four mentioned wrestle for teams that have been invited to The Cruiser Invitational!!! Darby and Westerville Central have both accepted invites for our tournament. Oooohhhhhhhhh, this is just too good!
-
CountingLightsGreat job getting the upper weights on the board. My son was a district qualifier but didn't make it to states so this should serve as a great motivator to keep on keepin' on and a reminder of the great talent he has to deal with to realize his dream. Thanks again for doing this, can't wait for football season to be over to get to wrestling!

Join the club!
Actually, I thoroughly enjoy football Friday nights! The game, the band, the fans, the wrestlers on the field! GREAT atmosphere! (I just kind of wish it was an 8 game season!!! )
