Thought I'd say "Thank You" to all of those who put their lives on hold to serve and protect me and my family.
I recently heard a comment concerning the phrase, "All Gave Some; Some Gave All" song that was performed by (none other than!) Billy Ray Cyrus. It went something like this...
On Veterans Day (in November) we honor the ALL who gave some. On Memorial Day, we recognize the SOME that gave it all.
Given the number of people on this forum, I am sure that there is someone who might read this who has lost a loved one due to military service sometime in the last 60 to 70 years. I just wanted to take the time to say thank you.
In Sunbury, OH, just east of Route 3 on SR 36/37 there is a small memorial to the fallen soldiers of Ohio. In an area behind an engraven piece of granite, and behind a high-flying American flag, in back of some 150 stark, white crosses, along with one star of David, is a set of boots, an upside down rifle, with a military kevlar placed atop... Behind these are written the words, "Worse than being dead is being forgotten."
May we never forget.
