Uniontown Lake's Friday Night Lights

  • jmog
Friday May 21st Lake will have their (I believe) 2nd annual Friday Night Lights wrestling tournament.

I can't find the entry form anywhere online to be honest (can find last years) but I'm sure the link below provides phone numbers/email addresses to get one for those interested.

I know a few that wrestled in it last year and they said it was a blast.

My son will be in it this year.

It is for all ages, biddy wrestlers up through HS.

    I found it...

    Anyone else going to this?

My son is more excited for this tournament than he was for the OAC state tournament.

I don't know how to tell him it will probably be his last tournament of the year...

Looks like, because of the weather, it will be held in the Middle School gym. I'm leaving in about an hour. Should be a good turnout as I think over 300 wrestlers will be there.

    Good Luck to all wrestlers!!

    What a long night.

Great wrestling competition, only "complaint" is that I think the young kids should have had more mats to end faster, my boy wrestled his last match at just before midnight...and he's 6!

Let the Jr. High and High school kids start on less mats and then migrate to the rest when the little kids are done.

I think my kid wrestled his best he has ever wrestled last night.

He lost his first match 17-15 to a kid who got 2nd at the OAC states.

He tech falled his 2nd and 3rd matches.

His 4th match he wrestled a kid that placed at OACs, my son was winning 12-10 with 10 sec left in the 3rd. He got reversed and it was tied 12-12. He then got up with about 5 sec left and got an escape and I tried to yell "stay standing" to pull out the win with 1 point...but no, he shoots (he's 6, what do you expect?) and actually secures a TD with 1 second left, so he ened up winning 15-12.

He then, had to wrestle the same kid that beat him in the first match to go for 3rd. He lost by points again.

Not too bad for only being 6 and wrestling in a 8 and under bracket that had 5 kids (13 kids in bracket) that placed at OAC states.

It was the best competition I've seen in his bracket at a tournament since OAC states for sure.
